Poured into a mug, the appearance was a rugged burnt dark amber close to brown color. Sly little white head. Messy lace.
The aroma takes on nutty to light chocolate maltiness. Big caramel / toffee tones and a clean earthy to grassy quality.
The flavor leans nutty sweet with the chocolate, caramel and toffee notes combining sweetly. Sly crisp earthy, and malty aftertaste slyly moving into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Low carbonation feels good.
Overall, nice English styled brown ale that I would have again. jflopsu (1862) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - AUG 1, 2016
Pours a dark brown and amber. Has a nut and coffee aroma. Taste is sweet with malts, nuts, and coffee. A dry malt aftertaste. sinfull (1870) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - AUG 1, 2016

Cask. Pours a light mahogany, more chestnut brown with thin lace top. Aroma nutty malt. The taste has a decent mix of caramel and roasted malts . No chocolate in the fore in my view but a definite growing sweetness with just a hint of bubble gum at the end. Overall a solid brown ale offering. From 12 oz bottle. This beer started out great. I was very surprised, a deep nutty almost wooden flavor. Silky texture. Decent but run of the mill smell. Then suddenly by the third drink it was watery and flavorless. Almost a great brew. Very nice patently nutty aftertaste I should add somewhat saves it.

12oz bottle. Pours brown with very little tan head. Caramel and nut flavors. Slightly sweet. Bit of a thin palate and not alot of character. Meh. Art (3220) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 14, 2015
Bottle from GE mix a six. Pretty delicious standard no frills nut brown. Pours a cloudy brown with an off white head. Nutty taste and aroma. Slightly sweet. Well balanced. Msdrbeat (785) - East Lansing, USA - AUG 12, 2014
Well it has "nut" in the name for a reason. Very nutty in taste and aroma.

It has a hazy chestnut colored body with a light tan head on top. The head is thick and creamy, tall but slow fading to a thin covering that hangs on till the finish and makes for some slick lacing. There is a big sweet nose on this one. Sweet caramel and rich bready notes fill the nose and hops add some light spice as well. Up front there is a big sweet caramel and buttery presence with some light mineral and green leafy/herbal hop bitterness moving into the middle. The hop notes struggle to come though but sweet creamy caramel and bready maltiness now with a hint of roasted nuttiness dominates and leads into the finish. I am also getting some dark fruity notes like raison or overripe plum as well. On the palate it has a smooth silky texture with light carbonation and a sturdy medium body.
