COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straw-colored and crystal-clear, this Pilsner brew is our first genuine lager beer. We used a traditional German lager yeast strain, and the classic Saaz, Hallertau and Hersbrucker hop varieties. Original gravity of 12.5 plato, followed by 8 weeks of fermentation and conditioning (compared to 2 weeks for our ales), result in a 5.5% abv. and a remarkably crisp, clean flavor.

Draft @ Hop Devil Grill. Its got a Rice Krispies aroma, grainy, sweet and doughy. Theres something metalic in the aftertaste that doesnt make you want to go back to the well for more. It was fresh though, so thats good.

Bottle. Light gold to yellow color (actually a disturbing urine hue) with a quickly diminishing white head. Straw/grass aroma with a bit of a sour vinegary essence. Light cereal malt flavor with mineral notes and some lemony Saaz hops. Kind of an overly fizzy/gassy palate. Not terrible, but why bother when Victory Prima Pils is one shelf over....

Sample at brewery - Ill be the first to admit I usually view Pilsners as an afterthought. This however was one good enough to stand on its own. Clear, bright straw color, nice fluffy head and an energetic nose. What really stunned me was the fresh malt character, so lively on this Spring day. If they can keep that they really have a remarkable beer here.
