Bottled, thanks IslandHaole! Very black, brown, creamy head. Aroma of licorice and blackberries. Fruit and somewhat funky, like a Swiss/French/Belgian stout. Salty and fairly hoppy but also rathe sweet. Inky, bitter finish.

Almost black. Aroma is rich and fruity - chocolate covered cherries, new suede jackets and a Luang Prabang-style coffee. Flavour is sweet, mocha-like, with only a light fruitiness. Heavy body, very smooth. Fairly simple, but tasty stuff.

Big thanks to IslandHaole for this one. Pours dark black with 2-finger tan head and great lace. Aroma of roasty malt, chocoff, licorice, and some port. Tastes very malty, with a nice chocoff element, backed up with licorice and a slight soy sauce. Notable complexity and a dense, smooth, complex palate. As it warmed, I noticed some caramel. Very good. A real winner from the land of the rising sun. Get me a Geisha girl and I’ll be all set!

KyotoLefty (10194) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JAN 18, 2009
Bottle. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, a touch of sour fruits, good sweetness. Medium roasting. Reasonably sweet flavor, light bitterness, slightly sour and lactic. Rather creamy and chocolaty. Relatively mild and balanced. Medium body as well. A nice stout, but with an espresso-like sourness that is a little irritating.

BuckeyeBoy (7514) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 3, 2007
Bottle Pours out almost black topped with a small tan head. A nice aroma of roast malt and coffee. A nice light bitter end. A little sweetness and some more malt. Thanks BückDich

larsga (7508) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 18, 2012
Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Deep mealy chocolatey aroma with milky coffee notes. Dry, sweetish roasty perfumy chocolate taste with mealy wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft oatmealy mouthfeel. Dryish minty roasty aftertaste with perfumy jasmine, oatmeal, and chocolate notes. Also a grainy flavour, reminiscent of barley tea. Nice, harmonic, drinkable. (0.33l bottle, bought at brewery.)

Pitch black color. Light brown head. Toffee, caramel, nuts hide under the big dark chocolate nose. Nutty sweet, malty mouth that comes across like pouring just the right amount of frangelico into cold coffee. Sweet malty finish. Nice. First stout I would say that is specifically appropriate for Christmas.
