Leighton (23090) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 10, 2015
Keg at CBC CG - London. Pours clear gold with a creamy white head. Simple pale bread in the nose, suggestions of pineapple. Light sweet flavor with jammy citrus fruits, bread, straw, lemon. Light bodied with high carbonation. Tangy finish, light acidic pineapple, lemon, dry biscuits. So so.

3.4
Scopey (16526) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 10, 2015
Keg at CBC CG. It pours cloudy golden with a decent white head. The nose is soft, juicy, fresh pineapple, tinned fruits and bready malts. The taste is smooth, toasty, juicy maltage, grassy, tinned pineapple, pithy citrus and peppery spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Simple, soft and fruity. Not bad.

Murky light orange pour. Taste is initially bitter then some grainy malt huskiness comes through. I didn’t realize this was a pineapple kolsch until after I saw the description here (after my notes). Honestly didn’t perceive much/any pineapple. Overall a decent beer but fruit, in my opinion, is very subtle.

My Bottom Line:
Pineapple fruitiness seeps into this golden brew’s dry and bitter lengths, giving it just enough juiciness to make it a fun drink.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the misty blond.
-Pineapple fruitiness is actually well positioned in this one, not overwhelming the rest of the delicate beer.
-There’s nothing reminiscent of a proper Kölsch in here.
-I admit I don’t get the idea of adding pineapple juice to a fragile brew like a Kölsch. Why bother making a Kölsch then? br />
On tap at the brewpub.

Tap. Hazy golden orange with small head. Very interesting take on a kolsch. Pineapple comes through well. Light body. Moderate hop bitterness.
