Pours a cloudy gold from the bottle. Looks a lot like a pale ale, but that is where the similarity ends. Has a great deal of aromatic and flavoring hops. Is bitter, but this is somewhat pleasant. Tastes a bit watery; lacking in body. No maltiness, rather only hops in the flavor.
"pleasant, but ultimately uninspired. a pleasant enough session beer, with all malt and almost no hop presence. good flavor, just not enough to get excited about."

Draft at the brewery. Light toast and bread crust in the nose. Flavor is moderately butter with some light toastiness underneath that. Can’t get past the diacetyl in the beers here. thetmaxx (917) - West Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Poured from the bottle aquired at Apple Hill. I really enjoyed this beer, it has a really nice balance of malts and hops. I’m done drinking it now, and I wish I wasn’t. I thought this beer was good, Dodgrblu (751) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 10, 2012

Bottle. dark ruby beer with a dark cream colored head. light roast and darker malt aroma with chocolate. Caramel and nutty flavor with light chocolate and balanced hops. Medium bodied. Woodsy/piney hops linger with caramel and nuts. Rosebud butternuts (2396) - Denton, Texas, USA - NOV 25, 2009

bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. deep amber with a cream head. nose is deep roasted malts, coffee and bread. not bad on the palate with a flavor of coffee and a roasted finish. SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - JUL 25, 2009
12oz bottle. Dark red-brown with some haze and a lasting off-white head. On the darker side for an Irish red ale. The aroma has a big dose of lightly burnt toast with a light coating of strawberry jam and faint grain husk. Malty yet dry flavor, bready with light roast. Modest hops, but well balanced. Medium-light body with creamy carbonation. This was a bit of a surprise. I wasn’t expecting much out of this random beer that a relative brought over for me from a brewery that I had never heard of, but this is one of the best representations of the style that I have come across. The rich malty flavors but dry drinkability work quite well. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JUL 19, 2009
