The recipe for Bearwalker was among one of the first recipes written by Brewmaster Bailey years ago. Bearwalker is a Maple Brown and the recipe pays homage to Baileys home state of Vermont by having 100% Vermont Maple Syrup added to it. The result is a very distinctive maple syrup flavor that truly sets this beer apart and warms your belly.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2012 Draft from a fresh growler. Pours hazy amber with an ivory head. Aroma of toffee and plastic. Overattenuated, with the residual sugars pretty much gone (killing the maple), and many off favors on the finish. Tons of problems with this one. Sorry girls, I love what you two are doing with your marketing, but this was a drain pour. I hope you will consider going back to the drawing board on this one, otherwise you may have a hard time getting residual sales (no one wanted to finish this growler). Good concept, not so great results :( But I will continue to try more of your stuff as it becomes available at bars and beer stores (looking to try the Rye next). I am a firm supporter of local breweries. Just trying to provide HONEST feedback.

Modest nose, slight lacing, good color. Sweet--the maple syrup is on the forefront, not overpowering yet very much the dominant flavor. Fades into toffee and caramel with a discernible maple back, then slides into a biscuit-like finish holding the slightest hop bite. Grows sweeter as it warms, making the maple even more pronounced. Wants to be British, but the syrup smacks of craft brew fiddlin around. Eh.

Pint on tap. Clear copper-brown with a film of bubbles. Nose is brown sugar, chocolate, toast and dry grass. Tastes of the same mix with a touch of citrus. Light-medium body has medium carbonation and is to the sweet side.

On tap @ Jackalope. Milky brownish colored beer with some off-white foam. Theres a mild maple aroma that I might not pick out unless it was suggested in the name/deScription. Plenty of toast, bread, and caramel. Sort of a caramel apple flavor. Light spicy hops, a hint of roast, and cocoa. Decently sweet. Mouthfeel is just okay.

Thin brown pour with a thin white head. Hints of maple and malt in the flavor, with a crisp, easy finish. Very drinkable for a maple brew, dont be mislead here.

A nice light brown. Pours brown with a thin head. The aroma is typical for the style. The flavor has roast malt and bread and just a hint of maple. Sweet and tasty.
