COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brown ales have been part of our core lineup since 2007. Over the years, we have crafted quite a few variations and surprisingly had never aged one in fresh bourbon barrels. Noble Sorrel is an Imperial Brown Ale aged in bourbon barrels for 17 months. Munich and various caramel malts came together with oats and Belgian chocolate malt. A touch of English hops and long rest in bourbon barrels rounded out this beauty. Toffee, almond, biscotti, vanilla, and a light bourbon jab culminate into a pleasant sipper. Enjoy.

hackobock (4095) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 23, 2017
April 21, 2017. Bottle at home, vintage 2016. Courtesy of James, thanks!
Dark brown, almost black with a very quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma is lots of bourbon, boozy and sweet malty with buttery caramel, vanilla, some fig notes, light nutty, hints of milk chocolate. Taste is sweet, malty, boozy and soft roasted. Medium to full bodiied, oily texture, small bubble, slight fizzy carbonation. Finish is slightly hot boozy with a lasting bitter note, sweet caramel, fudge, vanilla and hints of dried fruits.
Slightly too hot but still very good.

Lovely dark, murky brown pour. Tiny ring of a head once it dissipates. Huge nutty, fudgy, and vanilla barrel notes on the nose. In a good way, the nose is almost ALL barrel! Flavor is also dense with the same barrel notes of vanilla, nuts, treacle fudge, along with some dates hiding underneath. The long barrel linger developes a small twinge with the huge vanillins and alcohol, sort of like a pseudo-licorice type of essence. Medium-plus body with a relishable finish.

375 ml bottle from a trade with JStax. 2016 vintage. The brown in color. Aroma is chopped nuts, chocolate, mild bourbon. Flavor has Nice amount of lasting bourbon with mild chocolate, earthy malt, and caramel. Pretty damn nice for what it is.

Body is nice with a light warming finish. Nice drink!

Bottle from Gold Rush in Anchorage. Leftover from Culmination?? Colour...nearly black with a thin tan head. Nose...sharp, with burnt sugar, scorched marshmallow, dark brown sugar and of course Bourbon. Palate...dry, Bourbony and lush with oak stave, vanillin, and toffee. The mid palate is still dry and brimming with booze, dark dried fruits and caramel. The finish is long and bitter.

Mahogany colored beer with a very this beige head. Rich buttery bourbon barrel nose. Lots of bourbon, wood, toast, toffee sweetness, vanilla and ripe fruit. Nice warming boozy finish. Maybe a little thin, but very full flavored.

375mL capped bottle. Dark brown, almost black color. Big smell, woodsy rich alcohol malts, autolysis soy, barrel alcohol. It’s a big bad beer. Flavor is similar with more of a slick mouthfeel. Lots of caramelized black alcohol malts. Just not the type of beer that appeals to me.

Bottle thanks to Jason. Aroma is huge almonds, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, molasses and toffee. Tastes incredible. Silky almonds with smooth bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Impressive beer. This has to be the best brown ale I’ve had.
