Bottle thanks to JStax. Classic jackie o’s barrel funkiness. Pours a deep golden amber color with two fingers of fizzy white foam. Nose is layered with wet wood, some unripe pear, musty funk and a trace of round malt. Palate follows with some nice dry pear flavor that is integrated nicely with a funky musky wet basement roundness that has a hint of mushroom, vanilla and dusty tannic pear skin on the finish. hopscotch (11485) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 17, 2014
Bottle... Muckfest 2014... Pours clear and deeply amber with no head. The aromatic standouts are big-time notes of both oaken and old cheese funkiness. Medium to full-bodied with tickling carbonation. The flavor is super-tart, fruity and woody, flanked by a less significant facet of crusty bitterness. Novocain-like, tongue-numbing finish. phaleslu (10957) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 17, 2014
Bottle shared by thebaldwizard at the fest named after him- thanks again, Muck! Really thrilled to try this one, since I missed the release for RBSG. Pours a clear, bright orange-gold with a white ring for a head. Notes of pears, apples, earth, oak, red wine, and a good funk throughout. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a fruity, funky mouthfeel. Satisfying sour. Well done. joet (2678) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - JUL 12, 2014
Tangy clear orange color, citric neroli aromas, lightly salty, light astringency, very very nice. Slightly softened acidity JaBier (8445) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUN 22, 2014
Sample (followed by many more) at the Public House on 6/20/14. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of big funk, red wine and citrus. Flavor starts with red wine, moving to sour fruit and peppery funk before a sour, yeasty finish. Not detecting pear in the nose or flavor, but that’s not one that I’m usually able to pick up.
