UPDATED: MAR 5, 2011 Draft. Pours clear orange. Nose and taste of pumpkin cake, nutmeg, brown sugar, pie crust, cinnamon, all spice and ginger crisp. One of the best pumpkin beers I’ve ever had. madelfonatree (317) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2015
Barking Pumpkin enjoyed on tap from Winking Lizard October 23, 2015.
Look - Dark hazy pumpkin for lack of better deScription. Off white head goes to nothing. Lacing only where head was.
Smell - Sweet pumpkin. Ginger. Cinnamon.
Taste - Pumpkin and ginger.
Feel - Subdued spice makes it more drinkable than other pumpkin beers. Sits better in stomach.
Overall - The best non dark pumpkin beer I’ve had. Drinkable and smooth. Still pumpkin. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 16, 2011
Growler pours dark amber with dark orange hue and off white head. The aroma is sweet malts and brown sugar with light fall spices. The flavor is pumpkin and malts blended so well with spices on such a smooth medium body. The vanilla notes are subtle but present to help round it out so well. On tap at Jackie-Os. Opaque dark orange color. Thin, creamy beige head. Nice, moderate lacing. Really smooth carbonation. Seemingly lighter body. Light dryness. Hearty pumpkin aroma and spice, some discernible alcohol. Light bitter taste. Really good. superspak (5594) - Michigan, USA - JAN 2, 2016
375 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep reddish copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, coriander, ginger, nutmeg, clove, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and pumpkin/spice notes; with great strength. Taste of huge pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, coriander, ginger, nutmeg, clove, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, coriander, ginger, nutmeg, clove, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and pumpkin/spice flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a smooth, moderately creamy/slick, and fairly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice imperial pumpkin ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and pumpkin/spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. On initial tasting the spices felt a bit subdued; but once it warmed up there was a really great balance between the malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors. A very enjoyable offering.

Had on tap at Jackie O’s Anniversary Party. Man, was this a surprise. Not a fan of the pumpkin beers. This one was REALLY good. Flavor of vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin. Nicely blended. Easy to drink. JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - NOV 20, 2010
Sampled at Jackie O’s Experimental Beer Fest on 11/6/10. Pours a clear amber/copper with a medium tan head. Aroma is cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice. Cinnamon flavor up front with some sweet malt, nutmeg and allspice before a dry ginger finish. Not short on the spices. My kind of pumpkin ale. Dogbrick (13010) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 30, 2011
Sample at the Jackie O’s Bottle Sale on 08/27/2011. The beer is a murky brownish-orange color with a medium thin light beige head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet spices, brown sugar and malt. Medium body with a savory blend of spices, most notably cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet brown sugar and malt in the background. The finish is sweet with a lingering pumpkin pie aftertaste. Pretty good overall. Tmoney99 (14481) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 3, 2011
Tap sample. Poured clear copper color with an average off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid doughy pumpkin pie and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy spice, nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Standout seasonal beer.

Growler from pub side. Pours a deep hazy amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is spices and sweet malt with roasty pumpkin. Flavor is rich sweet malt on the front end with a spice note of cinnimon and pumpkin pie spice. Overall this is a nice pumpkin lots of nice spice and clean yeast notes that makes for a very drinkable brew given the alcohol.
