Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of berries, vanilla, smoke and chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, berries, smoke, roasted malts, spicy notes and a bitter finish. Low carbonation. Smooth texture. Medium bodied. Interesting. This poured a very dark reddish brown to almost black with a beige head. Aroma was dark chocolate, tart raspberries and light yeasty belgian spices. Flavor was much the same as the aroma, nice bland of dark chocolate, light roast, definate tart almost funky raspberry and light belgian notes. Good Stuff. Had this on the day of the June 25th release. Recieved this in a snifter.
3.5 A: Black. Came without much of a head.
3.0 S: Good bit of raspberry and vanilla. An almost woodiness, though no barrel is involved. Unfortunately, there’s some butter in there as well and it detracts from what would be a great nose. Light roastiness and lightly bready. Can’t smell the Belgian yeast presence though.
3.0 T: Again lots of raspberry. Subtle to moderate vanilla. Diacetyl presence again reduces the enjoyment of this. Light roastiness with sweet dark caramel. Light Belgian spiciness.
4.0 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Good creaminess and smooth. Alcohol is hidden really well.
3.5 D: Lots of good flavors, but too much butter for me.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2011 Sample at the brewery side on 6/24/11. Pours muddy dark brown with a thin beige head. Creamy vanilla nose that’s sorta buttery with raspberries. Buttery flavor with a huge raspberry backbone before creamy vanilla and a roasty dry finish. Wasn’t really detecting much of the Belgian yeast, but the other flavors were so powerful they must have overshadowed it.

A well-rounded porter with subtle vanilla and raspberry flavors that compliment the base beer very well. All of the flavors are there but nothing dominates. Extremely soft carbonation and full bodied palate. A unique brew and a great start to my first visit at Jackie Os.
Draft at brewpub. Aroma is roasted malts with notes of vanilla, raspberry, milk chocolate, and coffee. Palate is awesome, silky smooth with no bite. Flavor brings out a milk chocolate and a bit of the belgian yeast, it is sweet and a little tart, finishing dry.
