500 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2016 vintage bottling. Listed as 5.2%. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of leather, pepper, salt, musty, funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of leather, pepper, musty, funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness and light yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, cracker, leather, funk, light vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tartness/acidity, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/grainy/acidic, and slightly saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a great Berliner weisse! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modest acidity/tartness. Surprisingly nice level of Brett complexity, without going overboard. A very traditional, spot on take of the style all around. A really delicious offering. drsordr (2866) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - FEB 17, 2017

A pretty decent base Berliner, nothing too exciting but that’s fine. Still a good solid example.
