superspak (6208) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - MAY 7, 2017
500 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2016 vintage bottling. Listed as 5.2%. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of leather, pepper, salt, musty, funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of leather, pepper, musty, funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness and light yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, cracker, leather, funk, light vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tartness/acidity, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/grainy/acidic, and slightly saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a great Berliner weisse! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modest acidity/tartness. Surprisingly nice level of Brett complexity, without going overboard. A very traditional, spot on take of the style all around. A really delicious offering.

A pretty decent base Berliner, nothing too exciting but that’s fine. Still a good solid example.

Thanks Khalil for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster shows whitish yellow with no head. The nose is tart with a light maltiness and brininess. The palate is medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Slightly tart with a light saltiness. Good standard Berliner Weisse.

16.9 oz bottle poured, thanks to Jeff for the bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a patchy head. A slightly sweet aroma of citrus fruit, and a slight wheat. A nice tart constant flavor with a juicy citrus fruit, a cool melon, a growing lingering wheat, and a slight orange. Refreshing berliner here. Good tart notes. Nice fruit content. Very nice beer.

16.9 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of citrus, light lacto and wheat. Flavour is quite citric, with light lacto, wheat, citric notes, and light acidity on the finish. Nothing overly deep, but it’s clean and well-brewed. Decent.

500 ml bottle. Light orange in color. Some lemon and citrus and overall tartness. Decent.
