Draft at Daily Growler UA, JO’s tap takeover. Deep dark brown pour with orange tint. Aroma of dark malt and faint berry. Light porter taste (cocoa, grain, molasses) with tinge of raspberry that lasts through long bitter sweet finish. Very nice. 7.6 DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 28, 2014
Taster on tap at the brewpub, nitro pour. Dark brown color. Thin light brown head. Good thicker lace, good retention. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, light carbonation. Chewy texture. Awesome dark chocolate, black raspberry aroma, moderate roast and a hint of coffee. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Light to moderate sweet. Mild, natural, raspberry tart aroma. Creme. Fantastic, delicious stuff. Amazing raspberry imperial porter. Possibly the highlight of the night for me. phaleslu (10247) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 24, 2014
Nitro pour on the Public House side at Jackie-O’s. Pours a cloudy brown-amber with a creamy khaki cap. The nitro treatment does no favors for the aroma, and maybe the head is blocking, but it’s so hard to pull anything out of the nose on this one, especially early. The flavor showcases the beer more distinctly-cherry, chocolate, toast, and earth. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, toasty, faintly tart mouthfeel. I’d like to try a non-nitro version because it seems like it’s pretty good. MrBunn (2826) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 9, 2014
On tap at Jackie O’s. Pours a deep brown with a thin head and aromas of somewhat fake and strong raspberry flavoring. The flavor follows the lead here and is a little overly done and almost cloying. If the fruit was backed off a bit I would have appreciated this one a lot more. hayduke (5204) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 27, 2013
This was sampled at the Dark Lord Bottle share at the Hampton Inn. Pours a very dark brown with a small beige head and good lacing. The nose is roasted malts with chocolate and ripe fruit. Smell like raspberry. Medium plus in body. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is rich roasted malts with raspberry and vanilla. Bitter chocolate finish.

easily the best brewer in southeast ohio, jackie O’s had me with my first sip of this. fruity, dark, chocolatey, and hints of vanilla make this like my dream beer. wish it was just a little thicker on the mouthfeel, but all in all, i wait for summer to enjoy this one dchmela (3062) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2012
Reddish brown pour with a thin head. Bourbon, dark fruit and vanilla aroma. Tart raspberry fruit, bourbon, dark roast all in the taste. alexsdad06 (10389) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 24, 2011
Draft @ Jackie O’s. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma has a nice roasted malt base with chocolate, raspberries, and vanilla. The flavor is again as advertised; roasted malt, raspberries, vanilla with a nice shot of chocolate. Body is a touch light, but the flavor is good. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - JUN 17, 2011
Lookie what I found. Reviewed from notes. On tap at the 5th Anniversary Party in December 2010.
Pours a very dark brown color with a short off-white head and a moderate retention time. A little bit of lacing and a collar as it sits in the glass. The nose brings some roast and a nice amount of raspberry plus some vanilla and a good dosing of chocolate. Flavor has chocolate, raspberries, and chocolate, all blended quite well. Mouthfeel is nice -- fairly creamy and low carbonation. Really nice beer.

08 Black Betty has the 5th Anniversary party. I waited to review this until I had the BA version from the bottle... Looks like the ba version, dark brown with a light tan head, a little better lacing... The aroma is nice with vanilla, creamy chocolate and a touch of raspberries... The taste has a lot more chocolate than I expected, I was expecting and hoping for more of the vanilla and raspberries. They come through just not as much, guess I was hoping for some great vanilla like the Stone Vanilla Porter... Mouthfeel is too light, actually like he ba better.
The base has all the right components but missing something. BA + sour isn’t it, maybe just a ba version would make this one world class.
