22oz bottle. Pour is a very hazy light gold with some head. Nose is quite good with slight bourbon and large fruity floral notes. Taste really is all over the place and can really only be compared to a bad fruit champagne. anders37 (27635) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 15, 2011

Has a sweetish exotic fruity hoppy bitter aroma with weak hints of caramel and vanilla. Sweetish malty bitter hoppy graoefruit and exotic fruit flavor with weak woody bourbon hints. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter grapefruit finish with hints of bourbon and caramel in the aftertaste. faroeviking (11343) - Chupando chellas es como ellas, FAROE ISLANDS - APR 22, 2011

On tap at the Jackie O’s 5th Anniversary Extravaganza.
Pours a moderate caramel brown color without too much of a head or any sort of lacing. It’s a nice color and glimmers a bit, though nothing terribly special. The nose brings forward a bit of nice bourbon character. Not too much booze--a bit more faint with a light bit of wood and vanilla along with caramel. While this was nice, it was the whole beer and nothing from the hops came through at all.
The flavor hit the same way, and there was little development from the nose. It was more like some watered-down bourbon. I like what was done in terms of the barrel character, but I really think something else was needed to push this beer along. I would have loved some characteristics from a fresh batch of Matriarch, which sounds quite good from the reviews.
The feel was nice. Medium body with good carbonation and a smooth finish. This drank pretty well and I enjoyed sipping it, but I really could have used a lot more depth in the flavor and aroma. Well crafted, just not really my cup of tea.
