Bottle sampled at a share in Athens, OH. Black color, with a thin off-white ring of head. Dark fruit in the flavor, some mild tannic, some soy sauce. Nice bit of vanilla. Mild sour taste, moderate bitter, some mild alcohol heat, kind of dry finish. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation, dry finish. Solid, fun to try, but passed. Tasted on 4/28/12 with the Nashville and Knoxville crews at Curtis’ old house, big thanks to JR for bringing this one. Pours nearly black with a thin tan head that leaves thin lace. The nose is tons of milk chocolate with maple, vanilla, coconut, and caramel. The flavor is decently sweet with all of the same malt profile and barrel treatment from the nose. The body is full with average, smooth carbonation, and a long milk chocolate, maple, vanilla, and coconut finish.
Bottle 44/216, thanks StFan. The pour is dark and has a nice dark brown head. The aroma does have some sense of infection. A hint of bourbon. grrrrr second infection in a row. pours black with gorgeous brown head. aroma is slight funk and chocolate. taste is very rich booze and vinegar laced chocolate. :(

Opaque black beer, tidy tan head. Softish palate, semi dry. Nice balance of dark chocolate and very tangy, almost sour, bourbon. A little wood. Semi dry finish. Mild minerals. Quite a simple beer but nicely joined up and effortlessly drinkable.
22oz bottle with huge thanks to goryshkewych for this awesome extra. thanks, George! pours a silky, oily black capped by a dark tan head that leaves thin, bubbly rings of lace. aroma is damn nice with heavy dark chocolate, woody bourbon, caramel, and toasted coconut backed by notes of dried plums, raisins, and red wine. flavor is great with slightly vinous dark fruit notes of black cherry, plum, and raisin up front backed by bitter dark chocolate, roast, and caramel with a hefty dose of charred barrel, slightly tart bourbon, and a touch of vanilla on the finish. palate is medium bodied with crisp carbonation and a lingering, dry, woody finish. overall, a damn good barrel aged stout but i can’t help but think the dark fruit notes and high carbonation are an early warning sign of infection. i still dug it though. phaleslu (10462) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 6, 2012
22 oz. bottle shared by dbsdelight- thanks a bunch, Dan! 2011 vintage, bottle 76/216. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a small tan ring for a head. The aroma has a weird plum note on top of chocolate, vanilla, coconut and toast- but it somehow works and doesn’t ruin it. The flavor has a hint of that as well, but not as much because there’s a ton of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and cream. Medium-bodied, with mild carbonation and a creamy, sweet mouthfeel. Draft @ Jackie O’s (from notes). Pours dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma was roasted, bourbon, semi-sweet chocolate with some wood and hints of alcohol. The flavor was more bourbon, semi-sweet chocolate, roast, vanilla and wood. This doesn’t have the same body as the other Jackie O’s stouts.
