375 ml. bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, bourbon, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and oak. Maybe a bit too much bourbon, otherwise an excellent sipper. Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - NOV 8, 2014
courtesy of Toni; 11.5% - pretty opaque beer with no head retention; roasted chocolatey aroma, woody with notes of Bourbon, tar and black cherries; full-bodied, low carbonation, chewy, light sweetness overwhelmed by a huge bitterness; oily, long chocolatey roasted and woody Bourbon finish with warming alcohol notes MrHangover (4563) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - NOV 7, 2014
Bottle @ Another Tasting, courtesy of dEnk. Tasted side by side with the regular version. Pours a pitch black beer with a small ring of beige head on top. Aroma is massive vanilla, loads of chocolate and caramel. Flavor is very sweet with a big touch of vanilla and chocolate. The base beer is much more balanced and less sweet. Both beers are still very nice. Blended is the best! dEnk (4200) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - NOV 7, 2014

Bottle at Another Tasting, hosted by MrHangover. Black pour, tan head. Aroma is almost too full of vanilla, oak, cream, leather, licorice, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is creamy vanilla, chocolate and custard. Dubbelvla. superspak (5606) - Michigan, USA - NOV 6, 2014
375 ml bottle into snifter; Summer 2014 release, 11.5%. Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger fairly dense brown head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, coconut, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, dark bread, brown sugar, leather, light char/smoke, and roasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of big dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, coconut, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, dark bread, brown sugar, leather, light char/smoke, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, coconut, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, dark bread, light char/smoke, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance of rich dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible barrel aged imperial stout. All around outstanding complexity and balance of rich dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. An incredibly delicious offering. Bottle, thanks to jtclockwork. Halloween beer #2. Watching the Nightmare Before Chrismas with my kid for the first time. Anyway, the beer. Bottle leaked a bit in transit, leaving a sticky residue on the outside and a missing ounce or two. But, it still opens with a bit of a "pfft," which is nice to hear. Pours much like Dark Apparition (DA), but with head that dissipates immediately to a small ring of fine bubbles. Aroma: DA + vanilla, oak, and cardboard. Taste: DA + toasted coconut + vanilla + cardboard. Less sweetness, less roasty. Palate: slick oily texture, full body, soft carbonation. Less smooth/drinkable than the base. Overall: Not sure how much the leaking affected this, but I surprisingly preferred the base. If I ever get a chance to try this again, though, I’ll reevaluate. joergen (28177) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 25, 2014
