Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Dark chocolate nose. Palate is smooth and semi dry and mildly crisp. Dark chocolate follows the nose, rich and spicy. Chocolate liqueur. Fruity bourbon turning spicy and dry. Dry finish. Tasty but spicy, could do with some time.

[ As Jackie-Os Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition ].
ABV: 11.5%. Clear dark black brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, bourbon, alcohol, vanilla, light coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, chocolate, alcohol, bourbon, buzzy, vanilla. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.
So I traded a really big beer for this. Not sure it was an even trade, but I still really like this beer. Flavor is outstanding, just not enough body or depth. Molasses is sticky and the brown sugar is sweet. Guess I’m just expecting more from that bourbon barrel. With that said, I still REALLY like this beer. 375 ml bottle thanks to fiver29. Vintage 2014. Opaque pour in a snifter, very thin head. Aroma shows has lasting bourbon overtones with vanilla, some dark fruits, and light port wine. The flavor from the barrel is a huge improvement to the base stout. Long lasting warming bourbon over top charred malts, thick dark fruit (sweet plums, dates) oak and again with the port wine or Sherry notes. Really nice round mouthfeel with light warming after the sip. AdamChandler (5208) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 21, 2015
Thank you again Chris for sharing this one. Pitch black pour out of a 375ML bottle at cellar temp. Ruby red edges, almost no head. The aroma is incredible. Smells like rich port wine, vanilla, figs and milk chocolate. this smells amazing. It’s a next level on the non BA apparition. wow. still thin, very oily mouthfeel.Yeah, straight up dessert wine, port barrel, bourbon, raisins, dark fruits. this is incredible.

Pitch black beer, beige to brown foam.
Smell of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Has a nice bourbon flavour, not overwhelming.
Taste is chocolate, coffee, and malty. Also the taste has a nice boubon flavour, taste is not too sweet.
Overall: good barrel aged imperial stout, malty and not too sweet. devman171 (1223) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - MAR 16, 2015

Draft sample at Hunahpu Day 2015. Caramel, coffee, and molasses dominate with lots of barrel character. Amazing.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of bourbon, coconut, raw sugar, bitter chocolate, wood, vanilla and licorice. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of bourbon, vanilla, wood, coconut and chocolate. Full bodied with light to medium carbonation. Really nice, lots of barrel notes. Bottle acquired through a nice trade! Thanks Trev! Meady molassis nose with a reference to brettanomyces. Dark pine honey! Reminds me of the retired Stronzo (DK) brews. Oily texture offering a funky carbonated start and middle, with a lasting brown and dark chocolate aftertaste. Lots of booze in the after and on the stomach. Great mouthfeel and lingering sensatory characteristics. Long live funky stouts with deviating profiles.
