22 ounce bottle poured a cloudy amber color, aromas of toffee, brandy, bread, light musk, and some caramel. Flavors are the same less the musk, and some oak and vanilla are in the flavors. phaleslu (10101) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 16, 2012
22 oz. bottle shared by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! 2011 vintage, bottle 310/341. Pours a cloudy, darkish orange with a small beige head that quickly settles into a ring. Lots of vanilla in both aroma and flavor, both from the base beer (which gives it a creaminess) and from the barrel (which gives it more of a sticky sugary quality). Good amount of brandy, as well, with caramel, dried apricots, and sweet bread. Medium-bodied, with a malty, chewy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Sweet and messy. mar (5409) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 15, 2012
bottle shared @ rbwg ’12. amber with a cream head. sticky wood, malts, and brandy. smooth on the palate, thick malts, sherry, very tasty. notalush (5867) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 6, 2012
Thanks to Aaron for sharing - hazy orange - no head - aroma of brandy, orange marmalade, light oak, mild acidity - flavor is highly oaky, a weird cheesy funk, some orange and other citrus notes - odd grapefruit bitterness - very strange brew. arminjewell (9585) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 6, 2012
Pour out of bottle, thanks to Aaron for the pour! #314/341. Pour is dark red with thin white head, aroma brought notes of some vanilla, hints of caramel and toffee, hints of rotten fruit and chemical, something seems off. Taste is a mix of vanilla and dark fruit, weird rotten fruit notes, finish fairly sweet. Eh, not that appealing.

Bottle @ Armin’s house. Hazy, reddish ruby appearance with a small, tan head. Raspberry, tangy berry, spicy liquor, a touch bready aroma. Rich, red grape, brandy, dry, caramel, spicy, berry flavor. Fuck, this baby is all over the place. Drinkable but a little oxidized and not all that great. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - APR 5, 2012
(Bottle) Pours a hazy amber body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of oak, brandy, vanilla, nuts, and herbs. Flavor of brandy, oak, bread, caramel, and herbs. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Bomber from StFun - thanks, Josh!!! Always sweet to try a JO’s beer. Never had the base beer, but this one was a silky deep orange pour with a medium creamy head. Very big brandy note initially blooms in the aroma, backing off to reveal considerable malts and a slight tart note from the barrel. Mouthfeel is full, sometimes creamy and sometimes gritty. Taste, though, was a little bit off to me - a vegetal, yeasty, ripeness to the beer that doesn’t always blend very well with the sweet strong ale dimensions. decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAR 27, 2012
Hazed orange pour with watery head. Vanilla, brown sugar aroma. Vanilla, abv, rye, and sweet caramel malt. Creamy full bodied with good carbonation. nice beer. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - MAR 18, 2012
Bottle from Ucusty. Thanks David! It pours orange/amber with a very thin off white head. The aroma is interesting in a kinda stinky way. Musty wood, toffee, caramel, bread, hard candy and some hints of brandy. The flavor is a bit weird with some soapy minerals, alcohol, toffee and a sour/solventy bite at the finish. It also tastes very salty. The oak is pretty prevalent in the finish with some bitterness. Nice carbonation. A bit of a chore to drink. I’m not a big fan of this.
