My last rating of the RBSG Grand Tasting, any my handwriting tells me that was a good thing. Shared by deyholla. Pours a dark brown color appearing black in the glass. Thin head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Tastes of chocolate, bitter coffee a faint cherry finish and a bit of coconut. ketchepillar (1198) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - JUL 25, 2010
RBSG Grand Tasting. Lots of carafa and chocolate in the aroma. Slightly sour flavor that works well w/ aroma. KimJohansen (10492) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - JUL 19, 2010

Aroma: The nose on this one is boozy (bourbon), spice, roasted malts, and oak
Appearance: The pour is dark brown-black in color with a beige-brown head
Flavor: The bourbon is also strong in the flavor of this malty, spicy, and boozy brew
Palate: This one feels rather rich, and is certainly boozy (the booze are probably too hot)
Not a bad beer, but I like a little less bourbon in my beer then this. If I wanted to drink bourbon, I’d have gotten a bourbon. Otherwise, it has some interesting flavors, and seems to have a pretty good complexity to it, so I’m certainly not going to go too low.
Very interesting. Aroma has some spice, cloves, cinnamon, and roasted malts with hints of wood and chocolate. Flavor is sweet and roasty with a touch of vanilla and spice. Some dryness and odd roasted flavor with a bit of earthyness. Fun experiment.

22oz bottle from release party. Pours a very dark brown almost black color and topped by a small head of khaki colored foam that shows good retention. The aroma shows notes of roasted chocolate, cinnamon sticks, roasted coffee, smooth bourbon, oak, and vanilla. Really nice aroma. The flavor follows suit like the other bourbon barrel bottles I have had with the bourbon and buggy wood taking over. The chocolate and roast are still there, but the cinnamon fades away into the sour mash bourbon. The flavors just seem to get muddled by the bourbon. Medium bodied and thinned from the barrel with subtle carbonation and a nice warming finish from the alcohol and bourbon. Not a bad brew by any means. hellbilly (3249) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 7, 2010
bottle 107/156 from dakine shared on 1/12/2010.
it looks fairly black with a small tan head.
aromas and flavors are both the same... loads of coffee, chocolate peppers, sour cinnamon, roast, cocoa and some bourbon-y spice. rather thin body. it is very odd... simultaneously good and bad. i’m not really sure what to make of it...7/4/7/3/13/3.4 zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 1, 2010
Bottle at Max and Andy’s Fantasy Tasting. - woody, earthy roasty with a touch of cocoa nibs, vanilla some coffee, beany. Finishes with some astringency that throws it off for me. jseifer (62) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAY 27, 2010
Smells of chocolate, caramal, vanilla, and raisins. Pours a deep red, almost brown. Goes down smooth. A strong beer but this pour had, so I gather, a bit of an infection. malrubius (2897) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - MAY 18, 2010
