From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Andrew’s house on August 18. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a dirty copper orange color with a thin slight tan head and a little lace as it falls down. This is very dark for a saison. The aroma is full of wine character and grape must. There is a lice yeastiness to it to go with the barrel and decent spice. It’s an interesting combination. The flavor is much of the same. Strong wine and grape must notes out front, a heavy barrel addition and a strong yeasty spiciness. The mouth feel is a little lighter with a bright carbonation and a lingeringly dominant oaky wine finish. This wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. drfabulous (9010) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - AUG 20, 2016
Bottle shared at Todd’s. Yellow in color with saison notes and lots of wine barrel to this one. Slight funk. Tasty. Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - OCT 5, 2015
Bottle shared at Tom’s share. Pours a copper-orange in a small snifter. Small head and very little lacing. Aroma is tart fruits, oak barrel, wine grape must, and funk. Taste is similar with the fruits up front transitioning into the wine grape must, funky and tart finish. You get the barrel last. Light body, moderate carb. Easy to sip and really packed with complexity. JBPortland (1582) - Virginia, USA - JUL 19, 2015
22oz bottle pours hazy toasted orange brown with small thin head. Nose is a touch sharp with some acetic notes im the background, initially some caramel, grape and light raisin notes with a light wet basement funk. Taste is similar, medium-high acidity, funky grape and fruit, touches of bread, some light toasted crust, a little damp malt, some wet woody orange funk. Finishes crisp, biting acidity, funky damp mashed grain, some vinous grape, and musty oak. hopscotch (11492) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 8, 2015
Bottle... Pours clear and lightly copper with a fleeting, fat-bubbled head. The aroma is a fusion of caramel, oak and white wine with a light splash of white wine vinegar. Full-bodied with delicate carbonation. The flavor is malty, fruity, acidic and vinous –caramel, tartness and dry white wine. Finishes tangy and a touch dry with a nice bit of alcohol warmth. Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head. The aroma is strong wine, grape, funk, oak. Medium mouth, oak, vinous, brett, tart finish, good. bottleforager (3211) - Gray, Maine, USA - MAY 7, 2015
Bottle thanks to Jstax ! Pours a deep golden color with great clarity and three fingers of billowing eggshell foam. Lots of complexity and vinous notes tug and pull the palate on this one with soft chardonnay notes of toasted almond, vanilla mingle with musty earthy cabernet must and juicy tart berry notes that play nicely with the rustic grain profile and a lingering tannic acidity. Overall very enjoyable but almost too much complexity and flavor profiles happening to my meager palate. 50belair (3718) - Florida, USA - FEB 17, 2015
Bottle. Yellow/orange pour with a white head. Sour vinous aromas. Sour cheap ass Pinot Grigio notes dominate. Average body and mouthfeel. Tmoney99 (15224) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 5, 2013
Tap sample. Poured clear dark copper color with an average frothy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour yeast, citrus, wood and malt aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. Another solid complex beer. JaBier (8445) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Sample at the Jackie O’s pub (Brewery side) on 8/16/13. Clear amber pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of tart peach, white grape and some maltiness. Malty and slightly syrupy flavor up front with a tart fruit and white wine finish.
