Large shared bottle poured red-brown. Quite dark with a bubbly weak head.
The aroma has a nice cherry note but the cherry component is much diminished in tasting. Light-moderate tartness with a light bitterness in the finish. Slightly boozy. rondphoto (4383) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - SEP 24, 2014
thanks for trade with Tmoney99 --- Cloudy dark ruby with no head, no lace. Looks like wine. Taste is tart cherry wine with some wood and leather (like the bottle says). No change through the palate and finish. 2012 bottle, so it has aged a bit. Interesting, but you’ll have to prove to me that it is a beer and not a dry wine. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - SEP 13, 2014
Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Light cherry and tart fruit aromas, some roasted tones. Nice tart cherry, other funky tones, sour and tartness. anders37 (26251) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUL 24, 2014
Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity sour aroma with hints of cherry. Fruity malty sour cherry flavor. Has a fruity malty sour spicy cherry finish. ineedbeer (2148) - Oakland, California, USA - APR 14, 2014
2011 Vintage bottle 360/384.
Aroma has medium chocolate, dark caramel and toffee with faint roast. Light acidity with moderate cherry, berry and cassis. Light alcohol spice.
Pours brown with a thin tan head that quickly recedes to the edges and disappears. Light lacing and a sheet of alcohol.
Flavor has a moderate cherry character with quite a bit of berry and cassis. Some light oak notes with medium chocolate, dark caramel and toasted bread notes. Light alcohol spice in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall a pretty nice beer that has held up really well. A high alcohol version of a flemish style red with a bit more cherry character. A nice beer.
