Thanks to JCB & StFun for sharing this one! Dark brown pour with garnet hues. Aroma is chocolate & cherries. Flavor is tart and vibrant. Silky mouth-feel. Chocolate, cherries, hazelnut, and oaky tannins DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 20, 2009
Bottle: Nose was distinctive with dark cherries and chocolate and a vinious, cabernet note in the finish. The cherry fumes gave off a touch of tarness, but it was mostly dark chocolate and cherries. The beer pours brown with an interesting red tint within. Head is tan and just a ring around the glass’ edge. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel..maybe a bit too thin, but still able to carry the nice vivid cherry character throughout. Oaky vinious notes are driving this from beginning to end. The alcohol is seemingly unnoticed in the flavors but certainly noticed in its warming effect. The only fault is the light body, but that might be whats making this beer work so good...so who knows. The cherries and cab barrell influence are making this a very refined experience. quite nice. durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 25, 2010
Bottle shared by JCB. Cheers, Jason. I really dug this beer. Pours dark brown with decent beige head. Nose is big-time cherries. Nice and real and not too sweet or cloying. Dark roasted malts here, but the cherry is still there, and still tart. Somewhere in the land of sour porter/oud bruin. Good mouthfeel; slightly chalky. Loved it. dimenhetfield (2486) - , Florida, USA - DEC 3, 2011
Bottle 48/384. Shared with Dosbeerigos for his 29th Bday. Had a pleasant sour aroma, hints of cherries etc, but the flavor didn’t really match up all the much. It tasted like a stout that got infected, somewhat like Black Tot. I guess I just wanted a little bit more sourness in this one. Errl (2442) - Plano, Texas, USA - NOV 17, 2013

Bottle. Pours reddish black with small head. Aroma and flavor very Flemish In nature. Smells like chocolate covered dark cherry funk with light herbal qualities. Flavor of sour cherries, cabarnet, vinegar, must, and light chocolate. Flavor is very similar to a Flemish or lambic as well. Quite interesting Sparky (2244) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - SEP 5, 2010
Another bottle from BOLTZ – thanks Jason! Pours clear dark amber with a thin tan head. The nose is funk, wine and fruit. The taste is sour black cherries, wine, light wood and some funk in the background. Medium bodied. Tasty. ineedbeer (2230) - Oakland, California, USA - APR 14, 2014
2011 Vintage bottle 360/384.
Aroma has medium chocolate, dark caramel and toffee with faint roast. Light acidity with moderate cherry, berry and cassis. Light alcohol spice.
Pours brown with a thin tan head that quickly recedes to the edges and disappears. Light lacing and a sheet of alcohol.
Flavor has a moderate cherry character with quite a bit of berry and cassis. Some light oak notes with medium chocolate, dark caramel and toasted bread notes. Light alcohol spice in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall a pretty nice beer that has held up really well. A high alcohol version of a flemish style red with a bit more cherry character. A nice beer. fata2683 (2176) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAY 15, 2010
bottle at RBWG, pours brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is sour cherry and port wine. Flavor is very roasty with cherry juice and a wood note that is akin to coconut skins. Interesting beer.
