3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very good, more sour than I prefer but far from undrinkable. Subtle notes of cherry and oak. Could stand to be sweeter for my palate, but I’m probably not the target audience. Aroma doesn’t hint at the sourness, nice cherry and brown ale notes.
Bottle thanks to Gibson. Pours a dark amber with no head. The aroma is strong oak, funk, dark fruit. Thin body, oak, tobacco, leather, light tartness, funky, good. weihenweizen (3825) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - MAY 14, 2015
Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a glass. Dark brown with very small off white head. Aroma is sour cherries, medium body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is rich tart cherries. rondphoto (4439) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - NOV 4, 2014
thanks to Tmoney99 for the trade. Opaque dark brown, thin tan rim head, no lace. Very still. Aroma of sour cherry and oak. Taste is light malt with tart cherry and wood barrel. All moves without a hitch through to a finish that exhibits no change. There needs to be something - an extra shot of sour, light hops, carbonation, something to seal it with an edge. It doesn’t quite work for me, which makes me wonder if a year old bottle might have lost some life. Errl (2442) - Plano, Texas, USA - MAY 2, 2014

Tasted on 4/28/12 with the Nashville and Knoxville crews at Curtis’ old house, big thanks to JR for bringing this one. Pours dark cola brown with a thin tan head that leaves very thin lace. The nose is caramel, maple, tart cherry, and super dry, funky brett. The flavor is more tart than expected, lightly bitter and sour with a hint of chocolate malt. The body is light with lively carbonation and a long sour and bitter finish.
Imperial nut brown ale aged in bourbon barrels with wild yeast? doesn’t sound too good, turned out better than expected. BeerandBlues2 (13307) - Escondido, California, USA - DEC 14, 2013
Tap at the brewery. Pours clear brown with ruby highlights and a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is acetic cherries, toast and cookie malt, oak, vinous notes, earthy hops and spices. Flavor is tart and acidic cherries, figs, light malt, hops and bitterness, oak, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. Travlr (24691) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 14, 2013
Draft at the source. Briwn color, bright beige head. Aroma of sourdough brown bread. Taste is tart cherry, vinous summer fruit. Nice. Bacterial (2999) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Clear dark red pour. Nose is a little soapy, taste is super tart and snappy. Oak is prevalent in the taste. Nice. Lukaduke (3206) - Gray, Maine, USA - NOV 24, 2013
Bottle thanks to Jstax ! Pours a cloudy umber color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose is complex with earthy malt, cocoa powder, sour cherry and a touch of musky barrel notes. The palate follows the nose with the cherries falling into the background and a musty barrel earthiness, caramel malt midpalate and a long dark fruit lingering finish that is dry and vinous.
