4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Notes of espresso, dark chocolate and bourbon on the nose. Pour is thick with a dark tan/red head that lingers around for the entire pour. Taste is predominantly coffee into bitter chocolate with bourbon finishing off the palate with the smoked malts of the stout coming through at the very end. A nice brew but the coffee takes over all of the predominant flavor and really doesn’t allow the beer to really shine.
Bottle thanks to George. Pours a dark brown with small tan head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is light roast and chocolate. Thin mouth with dark chocolate, coffee roast, bourbon, light bitterness, very good. Homer321 (5046) - Melboring, Florida, USA - MAR 6, 2015
Bottle thanks to jtclockwork. IP trade at RBWG. Aroma is fudge and chocolate. Taste shows off more coffee but is always smooth and rich. No sign of alcohol at all. Probably the best jackie O stout i have had. adnielsen (10605) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 1, 2014
Bottle @ Darkness Day eve, thanks to StFun for sharing. Pours a black appearance with a dark brown head. Roast, dark chocolate, light chocolate, whiskey and some fruit in the nose. Many people complained about a massive infection in this beer but I didn’t think it was too bad. There was a touch of a twanginess but the bourbon and booze seemed to cover it pretty well. I’d like to try another bottle but I kind of enjoyed this one. thomashall (984) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - OCT 24, 2014
Infected bottle. Strong bourbon smokey smell. Taste okay still...some sour. Would like to try again. BVery (10328) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - OCT 24, 2014
Bottle. Infected - dammit. Still pretty good, but I wish I could try it good. Slight wood. Sour fruit - I’m sure unintentional.

Tasted on 4/28/12 with the Nashville and Knoxville crews at Curtis’ old house, big thanks to JR for bringing this one. Pours nearly black with a thin tan head that leaves no lacing. The nose is dominated by coffee with dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, maple, and toffee. The flavor is sweet with malted milk, and all of the same vanilla, dark chocolate, coconut, and maple. The body is full with average, smooth carbonation and a long coffee, vanilla, and coconut finish.
Bottle share at Hampton Inn pre-DLD party. Pour is dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is of coffee, wood, roast, oak, and chocolate. Flavor has lots of coffee - lactose, cocoa, caramel, vanilla. Finish is smooth and roasty. crossovert (12670) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 25, 2014

Roasty coffe, nice bourbon, oak, vanilla. Outstanding beer with a nice fruitiness.
Draft @ Jackie O’s (samples from bottle since). Pours black with a small lasting beige head. The aroma has all the parts a big stout should have: roasted malt, some smoke, dark chocolate with the bourbon integrating nicely. The addition of big coffee notes add another layer to enjoy. Touches of vanilla. The flavor is also not dominated by the bourbon, but has a strong coffee component. Dark chocolate, roast, some smoke, vanilla and bourbon. Medium plus bodied and a real treat to drink. I have enjoyed this quite a bit.
