12 oz. bottle from alexsdad06- thanks again, Brad! Pours a deep chocolate brown with amber highlights and a small bit of bubbles around the edge. Aroma of chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruits (lots of figs), and molasses. The flavor has a ton of fruits, and some tartness to go with brown sugar sweetness and distant chocolate malts and barrel notes. Bretty funk for sure. Finishes metallic. Light-medium bodied, with modest carbonation. Didn’t really work for me. alexsdad06 (10672) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUL 1, 2012
12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a small beige film. The aroma had roasted malts, chocolate, boozy alcohol with the signature dark fruits from the figs. The flavor has roasted malts, chocolate, nice fig and dark fruits with a touch of berry tartness creeping in, and some alcohol notes. This was a touch sticky on the palate. It got better with warming. deyholla (12038) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 6, 2012
Bottle thanks to George. Pours black with a dark brown head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has an interesting blend of roasted malts, coffee and figs with backing notes of sour red fruits, lacto and whiskey. Flavor starts with sour red fruit then has an interesting combination of whiskey, roasted malts and sourness. It is definitely different. douglas88 (9572) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 21, 2012
12 ounce bottle thanks to George. Pours a pure black color with a medium brown head. A rich nose dominated by whiskey and dark fruit, some light sour notes. The flavor is very nice; a medley of whiskey and sour lacto which works well, whiskey has a sour mash flavor anyway, and it melds well. Some sweet dark fruit and chocolate. Leaves with a lingering sourness but no heat. A pretty oily body, fairly thin, which is good with me. Quite nice and tasty. Well done! 12oz bottle. Rating #7. Thick black pour with a short lasting tan head. Light toast and figs in the aroma, slight sourness with a lingering soft milk chocolate aroma. Sweet and sour flavor, sourish up front with the sweetness coming through in the end. Interesting stuff. (2009)

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a dark reddish brown color with a large frothy brown head that slowly diminished with fair lacing. Heavy dark chocolate, fig newton and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet dark fruit sweet flavor with a heavy sweet and alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

This poured a pretty much black color with a tiny tan head. The aroma was lots of dark fruits, must be the figs, with light funk and some nice roast there too. Flavor was a great blend of stout roast, bretty sourness, and dark fruits both from the stout as well as the figs. Great stuff. JaBier (8178) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUN 27, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2011 Bottle at the Public House bottle release on 6/25/11. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, figs and some tartness that is there, but not taking over. Flavor is heavy on the vinous dark fruit up front, then gets a bit sour before chocolate, vanilla and booze show up. Finishes on the sour side. Nice. Another Jackie O’s beauty courtesy of markwise. Pours mahogany with mocha head. The aroma is tart with berries and it also has notes of chocolate brownie, dark roasted malts, and toffee. The taste is up from tart from berry like notes as well as having a mild levels of dark roasted malts, chocolate brownie, vanilla and a touch of nearly burnt malts off in the background. The more I drink this beer the more I like it. The tart berry notes marry perfectly with the richer sweeter and roastier malt notes. hopscotch (11182) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 11, 2011
Bottle… Cloudy, dark brown ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The malty bouquet furnishes mocha, whiskey, vanilla and fudge. Medium to full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is tangy and moderately tart – also light fudge and funk. Finishes fairly crisp, fruity and tart. I like the way this brewer thinks. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!
