3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on 4/28/12 with the Nashville and Knoxville crews at Curtis’ old house, big thanks to JR for bringing this one. Pours nearly black dark brown with no head but a few brown bubbles. The nose is butterscotch with some dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor is really dominated by the butterscotch with the coffee and dark chocolate coming through nicely. The body is full with a syrup texture, light carbonation and a long butterscotch and coffee finish.
Dark brown pour, brown head. Dark fruit, roast, cherry, odd yeasty note, some coffee flavors. Ok. phaleslu (10895) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2013
12 oz. bottle from alexsdad06- thanks again, Brad! Pours a dark chocolate brown with some amber highlights and no head. Aroma is very sweet; butterscotch, vanilla, chocolate, roast, caramel, and brown sugar. The flavor brings the same slate of notes, with a surprising dose of dark fruits. Better than the nose, which was cloying. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, smooth mouthfeel. Too much for my taste. deyholla (12583) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Bottle shared by Sean, thanks. Pours black with an earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a bit of popcorn, dark cherry and backing roasted malts and dark grains. Flavor starts with butterscotch and sweet dark grains with a hint of cherry and acetone. b3shine (9257) - Indiana, USA - JUL 18, 2012
Bottle to taster at Jackie O’s (from notes). Looks good; brownish-black with thin lacing. Smells and tastes good; sweet, chocolate, malty, and boozy. Nice on the palate too. Damn good beer!

Beer gun-filled bottle… Pours pitch black with no head, but leaves a thick oily-brown coating all over the inside of my glass. The aroma is a robust mélange of fudge, dark raisins, dried plum and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. The flavor is a touch boozy, but otherwise well-balanced and smooth. Not as silly sweet as I was expecting. Finishes warming and nourishing. I was told this was a 20% or 21% AVB brew, but it didn’t drink like it and according to the ABV information listed above, it’s not. Oh boy... I really don’t know what to say. This beer poured a pitch, motor oil black color with a very tiny, wispy tan head (poured real slow). Aromas were heavy on the sweet vanilla, coffee, some roasted malts and a TON of caramel. To be frank, it smelled a bit like candy, and the flavor was... remarkably the same as candy as well. This was an interesting brew, like drinking a good version of a liquified Milky Way dark chocolate candy bar. markwise (5450) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAY 4, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours an imperial stout brown with a tiny tan head. Nose is caramel, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, booze, and big iced coffee and Hershey bar presence. Flavor is huge coffee, vanilla, booze, dark fruit, and caramel. This one has an awesome mega-assertive chocolate and coffee character with lingering dark fruit in the finish. A decadent treat, but a sipper to be sure. jcartamdg (3539) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Dark brown with no head. Aroma is a bit boozy but with caramel that balances a bit. Tastes smooth caramel and dark chocolate. Really nice, so glad I got to try this.

Strong smell of thick caramel candy, like Halloween. Color is the same dark brown with no head we have experienced all day. Flavor is butterscotch, caramel, light spiced rum, very warm.
