UPDATED: OCT 8, 2012 Draft at brewpub. Pours black. Nose of roast chocolate malt, pecan, almond crunch, vanilla and coffee. Taste is the same. Lots of roast almonds and pecans. Reminds me a bit of Oil of Aphrodite. Nice beer. Tmoney99 (14866) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Tap. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, caramel, nuts and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet dark chocolate malt flavor with a heavy nutty bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Sample at the Jackie O’s Bottle Sale/ Stout and Big Beer Fest on 02/05/2011 ("DA Nuts" on the sample list). Pours brown-black with a medium thin light beige head that recedes quickly. Partial rings of lacing. Roasted nuts and malt in the nose. Rich body with a nice nutty character with notes of toasted malt and chocolate. The finish is roasty with a bitter dark chocolate aftertaste Good beer overal. hopscotch (11182) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Bottle... Black pour with a small, creamy, khaki head. The nose is a generous, lush blend of dark chocolate and toasted tree nuts. Full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The flavor is mainly nutty and alcoholic. Finishes burnt and stupid boozy. I really like this treatment. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian! alexsdad06 (10670) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Draft at brewpub. Pours the usual dark brown to black color with a smaller beige head. The aroma has dark roasted malts, dark chocolate with a very nice nutty component that pushes this to a new level for me. I enjoy the black walnuts in the oil quite a bit and found this to be on the same level. The flavor has the nut flavors working very well with the base beer; roast, dark chocolate, pecans with some of the black walnut found in the oil. Medium plus body with a smooth texture. I am looking forward to the staff release of this beer.

Draft at urbancaver’s place. Thanks, Cam! Pours a deep, opaque brown with a big tan head that settles over time and reveals some floating nut pieces in the brew. Chunky. Aroma is super nutty and dry, with roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor of hazelnut, cashew, caramel, roast, cola, and root beer. Sweeter than the nose. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, chunky, roasty mouthfeel and low carbonation. Weird beer. Glad I got to try it. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 18, 2012
Sample on tap at Jackie-O’s 7th. Dark brown color. Thin light head. Head fades completely, after a bit. Good roasty aroma, some coffee, and dark chocolate. Nuttty, kind of boozy, with a moderate bitter taste. Little noticeable alcohol. Dry texture, medium / big body, works well with the malts. Lighter carbonation. Really excellent stout. Had a second taster the next morning, tasted a bit thinner than I remembered, but still very enjoyable. douglas88 (9572) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 25, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2013 Staff only 2012 Bottle thanks to Dallas. Pours a pure black color with a small beige head. A sweet light fruity and nutty nose. Sweet vanilla and cocoa, very nutty, sweet overall and quite light despite the ABV. Note: it says 20% aged in Bourbon Barrels on the label. Ibrew2or3 (8808) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUN 10, 2013
Share courtesy of Gription79. It pours with a dark mahogany body supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma initially has a vague but pleasing nut sensation and then it seem to get into booziness, dark roasted malts and faint chocolate brownie. The taste has a nice chocolate bar goodness that heads into smooth semi sweet nuttiness and dark roasted malts. To midway and into the finish it grows more and more boozy. Nice sipper. Sample at Jackie O’s on 2/5/11. Pours darkest brown/black with a medium tan head. Chocolate and coffee nose with plenty of nutty character. I had trouble picking out the different nuts. I thought I detected pecan and walnut, completely missing the almond and hazelnut and mistaking one or both of them for walnut. Creamy chocolate flavor with pecan and what I thought was walnut influence before a bitter roasty finish.
