COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition ’cause this ghost is a creeper.

Thanks Chris for sharing this 375ML bottle with us. Split 3 ways @ cellar temp. Pitch black. some alcohol legs, the bubbles are big but faded fast. Aroma is nice. Lots of chocolate, loads of roasted malts. a bit of cheap candies. just smells like a to-style imperial stout. Nice beer. Dark chocolate, licorice, high IBU, a little booz. the lingering chocolate finish. Very solid, well made stout.

Meh, more isn’t always better, this beer is just ok and not worth the price. Get a six pack of mystic mama instead.

RBWG-15 bottle share: Thanks Chris. Medium full body worn spur on carbonation. Dark fruits. dark bread. Alcohol not entirely hidden but the alcohol esters are a positive.

Bottle shared on the bus during RBWG 2015. Pours clear, black-brown with a foamy beige head. The nose holds lots of toasted dark malts, cocoa, leathery dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor with lots of scorched earth, baking cocoa, more dried and leathery dark fruits. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with notes of dark bread, chocolate, roast. Not bad.

375 ml bottle into snifter, 2014 vintage bottling. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, raisin, plum, caramel, toffee, toast, light char, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and dark fruit notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, raisin, plum, light char, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of roast/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, raisin, plum, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Outstanding balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/roasted malt, moderate dark fruit, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and slightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small-moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Russian imperial stout. All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roasted malt, moderate dark fruit, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV, even with the noticeable alcohol warmth after the finish. A highly enjoyable offering.

Dark black, translucent brown at edges. Poured a bit thinner than I expected, but oily slick mouthfeel. Nose of dark and burnt malts, burnt sugar, molasses, along with vanilla. Flavors of dark and ashy malts, graham cracker, slight green bitterness, rich dark and milk chocolate, bitter finish. Excellent.

Bottle sample at the last tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks Stas & Vova. Black with a nice tan head. Nice roasty aroma with dark chocolate, cocoa and a note of dark fruits. Bittersweet roasty flavor with dark chocolate, cocoa, a bit of coffee and a light alcoholic note. Mouthfeel is quite thick and silky. Really good.
