This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition cause this ghost is a creeper.

bottle got on Spring trip to vist Erica in Ohio with Patty and dan. Black pour with a nice tan head. Nice roasty aroma with dark chocolate, cocoa and a note of dark fruits. Bittersweet roasty flavor with dark chocolate, cocoa, a bit of coffee and a light alcoholic note. Mouthfeel is thick, chewy and silky. Nice and warming. Really good!

From notes. On tap at Bells Funvitational on September 12. The pour is a dark brown/light black with a collar of dark tan head and no lace. The aroma is all roasted malt and a little smokiness. Licorice is prominent, as is a good chocolate, and there is a hint of fruit on the back end. The flavor is more roasty malt and a heavy licorice. Its really smooth. Dark fruits are in there, hard to detect, and the chocolate is also light. The mouth feel is thinner and well carbonated. The finish is a lingering licorice and some good malts. Not bad.

Pours deep and opaque. Little to no head. Aroma is malty, coffee caramel and bitter cocoa. Taste is slightly sweet with a touch of salty bitterness. Extremely smooth and a touch dry. Overall an excellent example of an American stout.

The cap peeled with my rockin guitar bottle-opener, the aroma is like Sunday in bed with a steaming cup and the morning sun just starting to warm the windows. With deep coffee and a hint of baking chocolate in the air, the beer is already making my mouth water. I pour the brew, a rosy, nut brown, a very creamy liquid, capped in a porous, dense foam, the color of toasted almonds. The head disappears in minutes, but is easily teased back to attention with a swirl of the glass. I bring my lips to the snifter, I sample lightly, the first few drops, and let the beer spread thinly over my tongue. I breathe through my mouth, to draw the aroma deeper, feeling the sting of the alcohol and I swallow more deeply, the next mouthful, to complete the experience. The layers of flavor begin to peel away and a dark molasses comes alive between the layers Id discovered in the aroma. A hint of leather and tobacco abuse the surface of my tongue; I sip, and the cool brew flows creamy, soothing the bite of alcohol and the bitter dryness of the finish. The carbonation is a touch lively for my liking, but quite flavorful, and a bit sweeter than I expected, but delicious! The ABV is timid in comparison to my last few reviews, and as far as a Dark Apparition, I never did see any ghosts, but that doesnt mean they werent there...

Dark cola colored pour with cocoa colored head that quickly dissipates (unfortunately). Sweet chocolate, roasted barley, faint bitterness, alcohol warmth, molasses, dark fruits. Good stuff.
