Growler shared by alexsdad06. Poured dark brown color with medium creamy tan head that lasted with excellent lacing. Aroma is very complex with roasted coffee. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy coffee sweet flavor and moderate to heavy complex dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex beer.

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt, dates, prunes and licorice, earthy and woody hops. Flavor is malt dominant with dark fruits, spices, light hops and medium bitterness with a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

phaleslu (10652) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 18, 2013
Draft sample on the brewpub side. Pours a deep coffee brown with a small beige head. Not much nose here, but there are notes of roast, chocolate, earth, and tobacco in the flavor that only show up as the beer warms in terms of the aroma. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a dry, roasty mouthfeel. Nice stout.

Growler shared with the group (11/2012). Pours dark brown with a smaller beige head. The aroma has a pretty hefty dose of coffee and roasted malts and lighter chocolate character. The flavor opens with black coffee and roasted malts, some chocolate/mocha toward the finish. Very good flavor, especially considering the abv. Nice sessionable stout.

Classic stout with good roasted malt aroma and taste. Hints of coffee bitterness, medium body and a good lingering finish. Good session beer.

On draft at the brewpub into a sample glass. Pours black with beige head. Roasty aroma, medium body, some lacing. Taste is a little complex, but mostly roasty.

4.3
JaBier (8235) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Sample at Jackie O’s Public House on 1/22/13. Black pour with a thick tan to light brown head. Malty and chocolatey nose with notes of maple and roast. Malty and chocolatey flavor with some walnut character before a roasty coffee finish. Reminds me a lot of Oil of Aphrodite, despite the absence of walnuts. Must be that Athens terroir or something. Either way, a mighty nice beer. My new favorite session beer.
