Brown with a hinto red pour and no head or lace. Roasted malt, coffee, and a hinto chocolate. Followed by a good malt bitter. Full bodied with good carbonation. A beer I liked. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 2, 2011
The porter pours dark black coffee in color with a decent tan head on top. The aroma is smooth coffee, with light bitter and even lighter sweet malt notes. The flavors of roasted malts, coffee dominant smooth, and chocolate come through nicely on a medium body. Panzuriel (2333) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - NOV 18, 2014
On tap at Jackie o’s public house in Athens Ohio. Drawn and portered is a rich dark brown beer with a tan foam of small bubbles. Nose was medium roasted malt that was rich with warm roasted nut aroma. The taste was rich warm and nutty. The body was silky. A very nice porter. Draft at the source. Totally black color, thick beige head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of Reese’s brand Peanut Butter Cups. Taste is rich, creamy coffee, cocoa, nutter butter. Very nice. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 21, 2011
On tap at the brewpub - 12.30.2010.
Pours near black with a good mocha head with moderate retention and a nice cap as it falls. The nose is quite nice with a load of roasted malt as well as a nice chocolate presence. A few hops in the background add a nice dose of complexity. The taste is pretty roasty with a nice chocolate presence to back it up. Good balance between sweetness and roast in the feel. Drinks quite well and is another solid hit out of Athens.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a reddish brown color with a medium tan head. Fairly poor head retention. No lacing. Aroma of rich, sweet roasted malts and coffee. The taste is roasted malts, coffee, cherries, bitter dark chocolate and a faint bit of smoke. Medium bodied. Nice. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 8, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2015 On tap at the brewpub, poured in a shaker pint. I think the stated ABV at the time was closer to 6 or 7 %. Nice, thick foamy brown head leaving good lace. Nice, light crisp carbonation, dry texture. Bigger body, but very drinkable. Nice, roasty dark chocolate flavor. Good bitter sweet taste. Good long sweet toasty dark malt aftertaste. Very well-done, respectable porter. 7/5/6/5/14 alexsdad06 (10640) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - SEP 25, 2011
Update rate, on tap at Dutch’s, 10/16/15: Black color. Thin khaki head, splotches and ridges of lace. Good darker chocolate, mild toasty malt, nice bit of earthy hop. Great, long darker chocolate aftertaste. Touch of dark fruit. Medium-plus body, great full feel, good chewiness. Mildly slick. Moderate-plus sweet taste, nice light to moderate bitter. A fantastic porter.
Draft @ Jackie O’s. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights and a sizable tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate and a hint of some toasted bread. The flavor has a nice roasted malt base with additional notes of chocolate and nuts. The finish is moderately bitter. I can’t speak to the earlier versions of this beer, but it is a solid drinking porter today. Tmoney99 (14857) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 9, 2011
Tap sample at brewpub. Poured hazy dark brown hue with an average creamy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium to ful body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Flavor was moderate toasted balanced sweet with an average bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew. unclemike (3170) - Junction City Kansas, Kansas, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Poured a dark brown with a small tan head. Nose was pretty choco-roasty, a little fruity. Taste is classic roasted malt with appropriate hop bitterness as backup. Initially I didn’t notice, but this one has quite a carbonation issue---a bit too much. The hops never quite make a statement in this...a bit too sweet in the end. .
