Draft at the Public House. Pours a deep brown with a mild head. Aroma is roasted malts, almost burnt toast, roasted nuts, sweet and dark chocolates. Taste is big roasted notes with hint of dark chocolate and rye. Light body, bigger carb than usual for a porter. Overall decent. Panzuriel (2306) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - NOV 18, 2014
On tap at Jackie o’s public house in Athens Ohio. Drawn and portered is a rich dark brown beer with a tan foam of small bubbles. Nose was medium roasted malt that was rich with warm roasted nut aroma. The taste was rich warm and nutty. The body was silky. A very nice porter. phaleslu (10333) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 2, 2014
Draft at Jackie-O’s. Pours a brown color with a beige head that leaves some lace. Notes of chocolate, nuts, tobacco, and earth. So simple. Light-medium bodied, with a dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Really easy drinking porter. Travlr (25267) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Draft at the source. Totally black color, thick beige head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of Reese’s brand Peanut Butter Cups. Taste is rich, creamy coffee, cocoa, nutter butter. Very nice. RRistow12 (897) - Lewis Center, Ohio, USA - OCT 10, 2013

Helmut brought this one to the 12/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a growler this beer poured a black color with a small soapy beige head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was roasty, bitter and dryish with notes of anise and floral hops. The flavor was dryish and bitter with moderate floral hops, anise, brewed coffee and an astringent presence. Long roasty anise and floral hop finish. Medium body. Eh. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 8, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2015 On tap at the brewpub, poured in a shaker pint. I think the stated ABV at the time was closer to 6 or 7 %. Nice, thick foamy brown head leaving good lace. Nice, light crisp carbonation, dry texture. Bigger body, but very drinkable. Nice, roasty dark chocolate flavor. Good bitter sweet taste. Good long sweet toasty dark malt aftertaste. Very well-done, respectable porter. 7/5/6/5/14 jcwattsrugger (12469) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Update rate, on tap at Dutch’s, 10/16/15: Black color. Thin khaki head, splotches and ridges of lace. Good darker chocolate, mild toasty malt, nice bit of earthy hop. Great, long darker chocolate aftertaste. Touch of dark fruit. Medium-plus body, great full feel, good chewiness. Mildly slick. Moderate-plus sweet taste, nice light to moderate bitter. A fantastic porter.
on tap-pours no head and black color. Aroma is roasty-dark malt. Taste is roasty dark malt-molasses, secondary earthy hops. unclemike (3149) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Poured a dark brown with a small tan head. Nose was pretty choco-roasty, a little fruity. Taste is classic roasted malt with appropriate hop bitterness as backup. Initially I didn’t notice, but this one has quite a carbonation issue---a bit too much. The hops never quite make a statement in this...a bit too sweet in the end. . alexsdad06 (10485) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - SEP 25, 2011
Draft @ Jackie O’s. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights and a sizable tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate and a hint of some toasted bread. The flavor has a nice roasted malt base with additional notes of chocolate and nuts. The finish is moderately bitter. I can’t speak to the earlier versions of this beer, but it is a solid drinking porter today.
