Draft sample. Poured clear dark copper color with an average light brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy smoke and maple aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweetand smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Complex good beer. Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of smoke, caramel, intense floral notes and a spicy finish. The taste is smoke, big lavender notes and pale malts. Medium bodied. Interesting. Nice beer. Dogbrick (13006) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 30, 2011
Sample at the Jackie O’s Bottle Sale on 08/27/2011. The beer is a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that evaporates steadily. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of maple syrup and sweet spices. Medium body with flavors of sweet maple and honey along with a potpourri of flowers and spices, lavender being at the forefront. The finish is sweet and floral. Overall I was surprised by the lavender presence going on name alone but it kind of makes sense on second thought. Interesting beer but not one I could drink for extended periods. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2011
on tap-pours a minimum white head and amber color. Aroma is smoke-medium malt. Taste is smoke-sweet medium malt-caramel, some spice hops. alexsdad06 (10387) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Sample @ Jackie O’s 8/26. Pours a clear amber color with a medium off white head. I was expecting a smoky aroma and even though there was some smoke, there was a significant floral/herbal presence from the lavender. Some sweet maple syrup notes as well. The flavor had a nice smoky malt backbone with the floral/herbal lavender and maple syrup still coming through. Medium bodied. I thought this was interesting, but not necessarily what I was looking for.

Draft at the Brewpub, served in a smaller glass. Pours a clear copper color with no head. Smoke up front, but not in excess, with maple, lavender, caramel, wood, soap, fennel, and an odd mineral finish. Light-bodied, with a smoky, herbal mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. It does have a sausage thing going on. Interesting, fun beer. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 25, 2012
On tap at Jackie-Os, served in a pint glass. Light brown-amber hazy color, nice thicker foamy cream-colored head. Great, sheety lace.. Great crisp lighter carbonation, very drinkable, great smoky aftertaste. Lavender note is a perfect accent on the naturally complementary maple syrup and smokiness, it’s delicious. So tasty and drinkable, yet intriguingly complex, that I had to have two JaBier (7958) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - AUG 30, 2011
Sample at the brewpub on 8/26/11. Clear amber pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma was much more spicy than I thought. I wouldn’t have picked it out as lavender, but rather some more pleasing spice and herb character (like sage and cinnamon). Flavor is malty and spicy with a bit of smoke before a maple honey finish. I’m not a fan of lavender at all, so this was a nice surprise. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - MAR 11, 2016
Pour at EBF. Copper amber pour with some light head. Smokey, meat, bacon, maple, spice, floral aromas. Flavors are similarly forward, smokey, bacon and spice. JStax (6478) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Poured on draft. Appearance is a translucent gold with a great head of foam. Aroma is barbecue sauce and a touch of lavender. I don’t really pick up on the maple until I actually take a sip. This beer reminds me a lot of maple bacon. Smoky and sweet. In the finish of the beer is where the lavender makes another appearance. I was a bit apprehensive before trying this beer, but it turned out to be one of the most memorable beers of the trip. Very interesting beer and I would definitely recommend it to anybody adventurous.
