Appearance: dark brown black. thin head of tiny tan bubbles.
Nose: chocolate, roasted malt, toffee and roasted nuts.
Taste: semi-sweet chocolate, toffee, bits of dark stone fruit and coffee bitters
Body: medium to fuller with some smooth mouthfeel.
Parting thoughts: the name is appropriate. It’s similar but smaller than Dark Apparition.

Draft. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted chocolate, caramel and soft alcohol aroma. Medium dark chocolate malt flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer. Sample during the bottle sale weekend on 05/08/2015. The beer pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing. The aroma consists of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, coffee, anise and hops. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Draft at the Brewpub. Pours a cloudy brown color with a small tan head that settles into a thin film and leaves a ring. Notes of roasted and toasted malts, nuts, tobacco, chocolate, and earth. Medium-bodied, with a dry, mildly roasty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Pretty straightforward, which serves it well. Good beer. alexsdad06 (10483) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - AUG 4, 2013
Draft at Jackie O’s (from notes). Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. The aroma and flavor have coffee, black licorice, some roast, chocolate; very drinkable, good flavor but not as big as DA. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 7, 2012
On tap, served in a pint glass. Pitch black color, light brown head. Great, creamy milky aroma. Nice sheety lace. Light carbonation, very smooth. Good chocolate aftertaste... It’s like chocolate milk. Has a bit of hop bitterness in there too, though. Awesome, but maybe a bit on the sweet side ucusty (2691) - raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAY 31, 2011
Dark pour with a lush cascading head and drippy lace. Aroma is Roast, bakers chocolate, and coffee. Body was not as thin as i was expecting given the ABV. Loads of chocolate, licorice, dark fruit and coffee. Prolly more of a stout than a porter but what the HELL do I know Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 21, 2011
"Robust brown porter based off Dark Apparition." On tap at the brewpub on December 30, 2010.
Pours dark brown with a single-finger tan head that leaves behind a touch of lacing and fades down into a thin cap. The nose is pretty robust as the name implies with some nice roasted malt, coffee, and some mild chocolate. The taste is roasty with some espresso beans and chocolate. Slight sweetness and roast combine very well on a nice body. Good drinkability. Curious if this was the second runnings from a batch of DA or just a smaller beer with a similar malt base.
