Draft at Ei8ht Ball a few days ago. I’d read a lot of chatter about some Jackie O’s Mandala imperial IPA being all kinds of special, so I was stoked to find this on draft at the liquor store. Cloudy pale pour. Smelling like dirty gym socks, this is a glass full of fuck no. Ferris (15385) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 8, 2016
Draft - Light leafy hops. Clear gold with a decent white head. Bitter hops with a some big grassy notes. Why a single hop with this variety? alexsdad06 (10434) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 25, 2016
Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball in a flight. Pours a clear yellow golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale toasted malts, earthy and resiny hops, dank, fruity mid palate, I agree that the flavor is big, more about the hops than malts, another solid Mandala variant. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - JUN 11, 2016
32 oz. growler from thebaldwizard. Thanks Joe! It pours a lightly hazed yellow/orange color with an off white head. The aroma has some melon, passionfruit, light cattiness and grass. Stone fruit. The flavor is full with stone fruit peach and mango. Strong spicy/piney bitterness. Grass, earth and dank come through mid palate. Lightly toasted malt in the background with only a hint of light caramel malt. The hops are definitely focused and potent in this one. Medium to full bodied, oily mouthfeel. The toasted malt and piney/earthy bitterness is a little intense in the finish, but overall this is really nice stuff. It was nice to see what Zythos can do on it’s own. A pretty diverse hop.

Big ups to Pud for the hookup! Handsome, elegant pour of deep orange, with a silky head and vigorous carbonation. Lengthy aromatic suffusion from the start, with floral and fruit notes everywhere, and some sharp spice detectable. That comes across even more in the superbly balanced taste, with a crisp, spicy, dry finish to the otherwise righteously floral brew. In terms of its balance, complexity, and simple enjoyment, it’s very close to Pliny/Heady. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Sample at Jackie O’s Public House on 1/22/13. Clear gold to amber pour with a thick off-white head. Aroma of orange, pepper and piney hops. Malty flavor with orange and a pepperiness before a piney hop finish. Very nice and my favorite of the Mandala series. What the hell are Zythos hops? Who cares, they make a nice beer! Poured on draft at brews cafe. Pours atranslucent copper with a white head of foam. Aroma has tropical fruits and some catty, simcoe type notes. Taste is sort sweet before it turns bitter and hoppy. Nice.
