COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is that big sticky hop elixir that I have always wanted to brew. Columbus and Warrior hops lend an assertive bitterness. Amarillo, Simcoe, and Centennial hops give this beer tons of great flavors of grapefruit, tangerines, and pine needles. A big dry hop addition of Amarillo and Simcoe give Mystic Mama a nose to stand up to the flavor. Soon to be a year round addition.

A west coast styled IPA that uses 5 different hops (Centennial, Amarillo, Warrior, Simcoe, Columbus) giving it tons of flavor, aroma, and an assertive bitterness. 7% abv with the ability to get you hop trigger firing!

I had to maneuver myself through the white reggae concert crowd at brew week to score a growler of this. I enjoyed some of it back at the hotel while watching some excellent tbn ministry coverage. The 7.1 percent is hidden very well. I got alot of floral hops at least more so than citrus. Very well balanced. It had a session amount of bitterness to the taste, not too much but not too little. I did get more citrus in the flavor though. Overall a solid beer.

This canned brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a typically carbonated body transparent yellow orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The weak aroma was malt hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow citrus aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of mild citrus and hops. An OK brew just nothing special.

Can dated 3/29 from 6er a few weeks ago (followed by the other 5, and soon another 6er). They mentioned in a blog entry that theyve updated the recipe, and based on my previous (unrated) experience it shows. Clear pale pour, nice head, good retention and lacing. Aroma is big, fresh, and driven by citrusy hop profile. Taste is reasonably dry, moderately bitter. Medium body, average carbonation, oily texture. So quaffable. Ive had a hard time savoring this one because my glass empties too fast. Were I sticking around longer, this would be a mainstay in my fridge.

Can at home, thanks Jeff! Pours clear copper, white head. Aroma is light citrus, toast, floral pine on the back end. Taste is bitter grapefruit, pine, toasted caramel. More balanced maltiness. Highly bitter, high carbonation. Almost too bitter for me.

Tap at TipTop in Columbus: clear gold with a solid hop profile in aroma and flavor. More juniper than floral. Great IPA

Canned. Pours a clear golden beer with a small white head on top. Aroma is very fruity, citrussy, grassy. Flavour is mildly bitter, bittersweet, malty, fudgy. Has a nice sweet malty backbone, but long and dry mouthfeel. Carbonation is fairly high, good in balance and full bodied. Good stuff.

12 ounce can from Winerak Market in Zanesville, Ohio, served a few minutes out of the fridge in a pint glass. Very clear gold, huge head that is initially so smooth Id swear it was nitro if I didnt know better; eventually this starts to break apart and settle down leaving rocky, fluffy chunks all the way...sharp resinous and citric nose, fairly typical though theres a bit of vanilla for interest, and the fruitiness is of the over-ripe kind, along with some definite notes of peel...more dry on the tongue than I would have expected (or liked, to be honest), but theres some sour-tart grapefruit juiciness in there throughout, and the bitterness is strong throughout, leading to a very sharp and hard finish that doesnt want to truly finish...full and acidic mouthfeel, fairly strong carbonation. On the whole Im enjoying it but am ambivalent about the overall character; not that fond of Amarillo or Simcoe and what it all boils down to me is too dry and bitter without enough corresponding fruitiness or sweetness. Its well brewed and has held up in the can for 2 months, but its not likely one Id buy again.

Can. Grapefruit hop aroma with notes of tangerine and pine resiny hop. Pours clear golden colored with a large off white head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with grapefruit and tangerine hop flavor and acidity. Finishes dry and quite bitter with sticky pine resin flavors clinging to the palate through the end of the sip. Pretty good IPA, a little bitter at the end though.
