375 ml bottle thanks to T.J, whalez bro, whalez!! Pitch black color, thin tan ring of lace. Aroma of crushed nuts, chocolate, toffee. Chalumeaux (1554) - Middleton, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 3, 2017
The body leans on thin, maybe a tad lean for a stout. The nuts do give this a different nuanced note. Definitely nuts but cant place what else is going on here. They say; " stout beverage with nuts" on label. Ummmm. Ok. Good, not a homerun for me.
Poured from bottle black brown with a nice mocha head. Aromas of nuts roasted malt chocolate vanilla. Taste is slightly sweet kind of thin for a 10% stout needs more balance in the finish. WillRunForBeer (2652) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 3, 2017
375ml bottle shared by Chalumeaux. Thanks, TJ! Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, walnut. Flavor is dark chocolate, walnut. Verry nutty, a bit tannic and a bit thin for the style. gEUS (1637) - Linden, BELGIUM - JAN 26, 2014
Bottle 137/200. Pours deep brown, no head. Nice roasty arom’s, deep nutty hints, earthy musk. Pity of the sourness not in balance with the full malt and roast character... boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 5, 2012
Flip top bottle... Poured jet black with little-to-no head. But that’s alright. Another amazing beer from Jackie-Os in the Oil of Aphrodite series. Roasty, nutty, earthy, a hint of minerals and dirt. Roast, malt sweetness and alcohol to add complexity. I could drink this all day.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with no head. The bouquet is fudgy and nutty – subtle notes of walnut and espresso grace the air around my tasting glass. Full-bodied and oily with buzzing carbonation. The flavor is plenty warming, offering fudge, mocha and walnut shells. Finishes burnt, boozy and bittersweet. Kudos to darkguardian for popping the top on this baby! alexsdad06 (10389) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Sampled from a growler. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head; low carbonation. The aroma has roasted malts, dark chocolate and hints of coffee, but this really features the walnuts even more than the original Oil does. Flavor is much of the same; chocolate, roast, hints of coffee with a big walnut explosion that adds a bittersweet character. Good mouth feel, but not as big as batch one Oil. Smooth with a drier finish. Very nice beer that I am glad I got the chance to try. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Sample, on tap. Very dark brown color. Nice thin light brown head floating on the surface. Some lace. Big body, light carbonation. Good dry texture. Definitely nuttier than the standard Aphrodite, the walnut is much more featured here, making it more interesting and tasty to me. It complements the dark malt chocolate and coffee flavors very nicely. Nice bitter sweet taste, very tasty. Leaves a nice bittersweet walnut aftertaste. Really interesting brew, I think the extra walnut really adds to it. Even more walnut, even, would be cool.
