Bottle. Dark brown pour with a small head that fades to a very thin ring. Aroma is very rich and sugary. Molasses, vanilla, raspberry jam, chocolate syrup, rum, and wood. Taste moderately sweet with an odd, dry tartness. Cocoa, dried fruit, molasses, nuts. Tons of wood, tart fruit and rum in the finish. Something odd about the taste I can’t describe. Incredibly dry with a funky tart fruit taste. Rough mouthfeel. Overall, loved the aroma but taste was a bit odd. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - NOV 30, 2014

Bottle shared by alexsdad06 pours opaque black with thick tan head. Nose vanilla, biscuit, chocolate, and slight earthy funk. Taste vanilla, light chocolate, bread. The rum seems to add more vanilla and savory flavors than boozy flavors. Chocolaty finish. Silky thick mouth feel. BMMillsy (1788) - Florida, USA - NOV 12, 2014
Bottle from Joe. Thanks buddy. Pours viscous black into the tulip with almost not head, with just a creamy espresso foam colored head settling around the top edges. Rich aroma of molasses, anise, chocolate, raisins, and definite rum, though not boozy smelling. Flavor is sweet vanilla molasses, lots of anise, a bit of rum spice, booze, chocolate covered raisins. Medium thick mouthfeel with lowish carbonation, and not too dry. A nice dessert beer that is in the wheelhouse of CCB's recent Da Un Beso. Very similar beers, with this one coming with a bit more heft and booze. Good stuff. cubs (10693) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 1, 2014
Bottle @ Darkness Day eve, thanks to StFun for sharing. Pours a black appearance with a thin brown head. Dark chocolate, caramel, brownie, a bit nutty, spicy nose. A little bit of booze in the mouth. Kind of spicy. Thick mouth feel. A touch smoky, brown sugar, and dark chocolate in the mouth. I think I’d prefer the bourbon version but I’d really like to try them head to head again.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter deepest brown black with minimal head.
Aroma is rum chocolate. Sweet comes to mind as well as booze.
Flavor is warm to the mouth with rum then sweet chocolate. Incredible.
A truly beautiful brew to savor. cernjoh (183) - Ohio, USA - SEP 24, 2014
Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Pours dark like old engine oil with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is of chocolate and rum. Taste is more milk chocolate than dark with rum vanilla and a slight roasted malt. A very tasty beer. Palate is perfect for this style with just right amount of carbonation and viscosity. Overall, excellent. Get some and try it yourself you will not be disappointed. Cheers! Ataraxia (567) - California, USA - AUG 30, 2014
Almost black, thin beige head. Cocoa, some nuttiness, light coffee, dried dark fruits, and malt. Leathery, dry bittersweet flavor. Smooth, a bit oily, and some booziness. Drake (14062) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 22, 2014
