Growler. Pours a dark black. Nose is rather crazy with some nutty butter notes. I thought it was diacetyl but I am not sure, it could be the pecan’s. Nice chewy body with noticable oatmeal. Subtle pecan nuttiness and finishes lightly bitter with that same buttery pecan note. I get some chocolate in this to but that could be the malts. Solid but its a bit messy and needs a little tweaking. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 15, 2010
LCBS 2010. Dark brown pour, light brown head. Roasty aroma with some bitter chocolate, nuttiness in the background. Flavor has some nice roasty bitterness, cocoa, prunes and a hint of roasted nuts. Good stuff. Dogbrick (13010) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 15, 2010
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2010 Sample at Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium creamy beige head that dissipates slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt, toffee and espresso. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, mocha and mildly bitter hops. The finish is roasty and nutty with a sweet aftertaste. Good Porter overall. Moggman (235) - Columbus, USA - SEP 14, 2010
Sample at Jackie O’s Barrel Aged Beer Fest 2010. Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is mildly sweet, roasty, with some nutty character coming through from the pecans in this brew. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malts, and a slight pecan note, just enough to let you know it’s there. A bit of hop bitterness is also present. Smooth finish. Sample during Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. Dark brown pour with a medium beige head. Malty aroma with some nutty character and chocolate along with a bit of alcohol influence. Flavor starts with chocolate and nuts with a bit of hop and a creamy chocolate finish. Very nice collaboration between two of the best in Ohio right now.
