Oil of Aphrodite is an American double stout with an astounding texture. Multiple different chocolate and caramel malts from all over the world give this viscous brew a colossal character. Belgian candied syrup and locally harvested black walnuts build upon the fortified character, boldly standing up to its voluptuous body. After spending two months aging in stainless steel, the oil was placed into a rum barrel. The oil rested in the rum barrel for an additional 8 months, creating an amazing brew worthy of goddesses and gods alike. A beer passionately created to transcend your glass and provide a truly memorable experience.

At the Kernel. Big thanks to Brad from JackieOs for bringing a bottle over and a very big thanks to the Kernel crew for sharing and saving me some! Opaque dark brown beer, little tan head. Rich dark malt. A little coffee and a trace of vanilla. Lovely rum and raisin ice cream with rich dark rum and a perfect amount of peppery spice. A little wood. Finishes semi dry. A fantastic rum barrel beer!

22 oz. bottle, pours a viscous black with a small tan head. Aroma of rum barrels, walnuts, candied sugar and more rum barrels. Flavour is dominated by the rum barrels, with loads of vanilla, candied sugar and no more hint of walnuts. A lot more viscous than the regular impie, dominated by the rum barrels. Finishes very rum-y. Solid stuff, but a bit much.

A: The pour is black as night with a finger of tan head. S: Lots of roast and charred barrel/oak to begin with. The vanilla and rum notes come through after that and, strangely, so do the walnuts. Plenty of coffee and dark chocolate with a touch of spice (from the rum?). T: A strong flavor of dark chocolate and roasted malts up front, followed by lots of rum, vanilla, and charred oak. There is a very distinct nuttiness and only a moderate coffee flavor. Like with the aroma, there is a slight spice note. M: The body is medium to full with a medium level of carbonation. O: One of the best Jackie Os beers Ive had to date. Really nice stuff.

Bottle. Pours black with chocolate brown head. Nose is vanilla, nuts, chocolate, rum and Candi Sugar. Taste is initially nutty with coffee and candi sugar, which gives way to a long finish of rum, velvety smooth chocolate and pleasant warming alcohol.

Draft sample at JOs. Poured a black color with a small fizzy brown head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted dark nuts, rum, woody and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet roasted nutty and rum flavor with a heavy bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.
