Draft at Jackie-Os. Hazy yellow color, really foggy. Nice, poofy white head that persists. Plenty lace. Really light on the carbonation, almost tastes uncarbonated. I don’t think I like that, this could have used a bit of crispness. Nice, sweet taste with a mild spice bite. I’ve never even seen a paw paw, let alone eaten one, so the aroma is kind of hard for me to decipher. It’s not bad, though... with the hops adding a nice bitter balance to the taste. Overall, it’s really tasty and drinkable. I just wish it was more carbonated... this nearly tasted like it was flat Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 24, 2011
Pour yields a light orange-apricot color with a good white head that lasts around for a long while before slowly fading down to a nice cap. Great lacing on the edges of the glass. The nose brings forward some light hopping with some citrus and floral notes. A bit of the south paw in the background. Pretty nice, but not nearly as good as the funky version in the nose. The taste is about the same--the south paw is there, but just not quite to the level that it is in the funky version. Maybe I’m biased having had the modified version first. Still, it’s really nice and quite drinkable. A mellow pale ale with a hint of fruit. A bit of nice dryness in the finish. A solid, quaffable brew.

This poured a cloudy darker yellow color with a white head. Aroma was very sweet, some sort of mily fruit, and some light hops too. Flavor was ovverbearingly sweet artificial mixed fruit taste and 2 row malt. JStax (7123) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2011
On tap into a sampler glass. Aroma is hops and a sweet fruit that I would guess to be Paw Paw. Taste is hop oriented but I do detect a nice sweet fruit note toward the finish. Medium bodied and easily drank. alexsdad06 (10636) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JAN 9, 2011
Sample @ Jackie O’s. Pours a hazy dark golden color with a smaller off white head. The aroma and flavor show a nice hop presence (earthy, citrus), fruity character, with a mild bitterness. This is an easy drinking pale ale that provides good flavor throughout.

Sample during Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. Lots of tropical fruit in the nose with a bit of citrus and a generous amount of earthy hops. Flavor starts with bitter hops, then turns to tropical fruit before a citrusy finish. Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer is a slightly hazy dark gold color with a medium foamy off-white head and large bubbles that recedes steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is mildly hoppy with some malty and fruity notes. The finish is hoppy with a lingering mild bitterness left over. Decent Pale overall.
