"Malty strong ale aged on oak chips." Pours a moderate reddish-brown color with a good tan head and a slight amount of lacing on the way down. The nose brings forward some subtle oak character and sweet malted plus some mild fruits. Caramel and bread there as well. The taste is quite bready with some caramel sweetness and a nice touch of oak in the background. Good full body with a bit of oak tannin that helps round out the brew. Nice and drinkable. Love how there are so many new offerings each time I stop by. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 01-05-2011

On tap at the Jackie O’s 5th Anniversary Extravaganza. Opaque red pour with a medium beige head. Bready malt with caramel and a bit of noble hop. Caramel malt flavor with a bit of a meaty character along with some tomato and a bready finish.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery during the 5th anniversary party. (Listed as ’Sparkbock’ on brewery list, typo?) Poured a hazy amber red with a near white head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced slightly. Aroma had notes of sweet earthy grains with a bit of oak and biscuit. Flavor was sweeter with biscuit and sweet grains coming through with a dry oak finish.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2010 Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. This brew is a clear reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing. Caramel malt aroma with some dark fruity notes. Medium body with a strong malt base and flavors of caramel, dark fruit and chocolate. The finish is malty with a slight booze and fig character and a sweet finish. Above average overall.

Had this one on tap during brew week. I thought this one was pretty solid. It was pretty easy to drink and had a solid malty, caramel, and light roastiness to it. Solid beer.

On tap, at the pub. Dark, with a thin tan head. Very malty aroma, with caramel and toffee. Medium body and a bit sweet. Lots of caramel in there as well. Finishes well. A fitting tribute to Jon.
