Dark brown pour with some garnet hues around the edges. Aroma is raspberry, light aceto/bacter and vanilla. Much more vinous than the other offerings on tap, still very solid. Sample at One Funky Afternoon at Jackie O’s on 04/02/2011: Pours a very dark brown color with hints of red. Thin beige head that recedes to an outer ring quickly. Funky, tart raspberry aroma with an off stale malt quality. Medium body with a very tart berry flavor along with touches of malt and spice. The finish is fruity with a sour aftertaste. This poured a dark red/brown color, very murky, with basically no head. Aroma was very vineous, more sherry like than sour, with definite notes of raspberries in the noes. Sampled during One Funky Afternoon on 4/2/11. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of sour raspberry, dark malts, chicken flavored ramen noodles and a vegetal character that’s not good. This was on tap for brew week. It was the first time i had seen a soured porter. It actually worked okay. There was not a great deal of sourness in this one but what was there complimented the raspberry pretty well. It is exciting to see small places like this putting out styles like this.
