Draft at One Funky afternoon 2011. Pours a cloudy brown color with a thin beige head. The aroma has tart raspberry puree, mild bourbon notes, oak and a hint of the sweetness to come. The flavor opens with tartness bordering on sour, but becomes increasingly sweet toward the finish. Raspberries and dark fruits, bourbon, oak, dark malts combine for another interesting Jackie O’s beer. On tap at the spot. This vintage was my favorite sampled during the vertical. Murky brown pour. Lingering beige head and spotty lace. Aroma is roast, lacto and vanilla. Sample at One Funky Afternoon at Jackie O’s on 04/02/2011: The beer pours a murky dark reddish-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Tart berries in the nose along with some sweet malt. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and a slightly sour raspberry character. Flavors of yeast and oak as well. This poured a reddish murky brown color with a very small beige head. Aroma was of lots of tart raspberries, some chocolatey roasted malt, and a good amount of brett. Sampled during One Funky Afternoon on 4/2/11. Hazy brown pour with a thin beige head. Nose of raspberry sorbet and bourbon. Raspberry flavor with dark malts and some vanilla with bourbon. Tastes very similar to the 2010 version. Maybe a hair better, making it the best of the 4 vintages sampled.

Growler, shared at BCTC 09. Pours a cloudy dark brown body with a minimal head. Nice sour nose, a little vinegar with roast and chocolate notes, light alcohol. The flavor is akin to a bretty sour Porter with some fruity notes. Roasty, very dry on the finish, quite funky with a nice aggressive oakiness. Growler at BCTC. Pours a hazy brown with ruby highlights and a thin white head. Caramel, oak, and some sour hints and a light berry character. Very tangy and with some nice light acidity. Finishes with a lovely lingering sourness.
Growler at BCTC 2009: Muddy deep brownish purple with a light tna dense head. Tart fruity aroma with evident berry character- some earthier notes of tobacco and oak tannins. Slick feel- mildly acetic flavor with a toasted earthy malt character. Has notes of dark berries and tobacco. Somewhat complex and unique. A well done Sour.
