Growler. Pours a very cloudy, dark caramel-cola brown color. There’s virtually no head or lacing. Aromas kick off with porter-like cocoa and dried caramel notes, showing some milky, lactic tartness, followed by notes of softly acetic raspberries and some soured wood. Oaky, sour mash bourbon imparts a bit of a sweet and twangy alcohol. Flavors follow suit, showing much like an olde world porter that has been ramped up and infused with mildly tannic, tart raspberries. Dry cocoa again dominates the malt base, as the fruit and vanilla work well together. Twangy, oaky bourbon and buggy yeast keep things earthy, but don’t go overboard. The palate sports a medium body, with soft carbonation and a bit of a dragging, papery finish. Interesting brew. Goof, but not great. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 20, 2010

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2010 Growler. Pours a dark brown without much head on it. Very tart nose with berries, roastiness and vanilla, some wine-like character. Flavor is sour raspberries, ash, chocolate and roast, sweet toffee, wood. An interesting, powerful berry sour. BillKismet (4090) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Dirty chocolate brown, no head. Intensely fruity, sour tart nose. Raspberry sour tart body across breaths of carafa. Shocked to see the precipitous ABV--as I did not detect it much at all. Not too shabby.

Growler… Pours dark brown with no head. The aroma is an intermingling of oak and black tea with a splash of raspberry essence. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Tart and bretty with a kiss of chocolate and a moderately bitter, tannic nuance. Crisp, tangy, dry finish. Growler courtesy of darkguardian!

Growler shared by SoLan. Pours a slight murky brown color with tannish head. Nose is sour, raspberries, oak and slight spices nose as well. Flavors are a nice raspberry, nutty where almost chocolate tasting, and ends with a slight sour finish. Also get a bit of oak. Interesting beer. 50belair (3670) - Florida, USA - AUG 17, 2010
Another darkguardian rarity. Dark rollin muddy water. All I can say is that my unsophisticated pallet had trouble getting past the overwhelming taste of old tart raspberry sun tea....
