Dark brown color with foamy tan head... Aroma of smoked malts, beechwood, chocolate malts... Flavor is smokey, roasted malts, chocolate... Fairly creamy yet watery body, like a Guinness... Decent

Draught @ As Is NYC. Inky black with spongy beige head, caramel aroma, medium carbonation, mocha taste, not really tasting smoke, thick body, medium bitter roasted malt finish. Very smooth and tasteful but did not feel smoked at all. Quick3Beers (1558) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - APR 5, 2016
Pours a rich brown/black from a bottle. Nose of coffee, flavor similar with a nice roasted smokiness toward the end, some vanilla and even toffee notes mixed in a bit. Rather thin and almost cola-y. Good beer, and I’m not a particular fan of smoked beers. katrinaez (2411) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 18, 2016
Nice light smoky scent and added to the taste. Vanilla kicks in at the end. A bit of a sour funk also. Feel is a but gritty, but filling. medium brown with a purple brown color. Tap wchesser (2178) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 24, 2016
Dark brown with a thin creamy head. Nose is light smoke, some bakers cocoa. Taste follows, smoke is light but there and works nicely with the chocolate and caramel malts.

Sampler at the brewery. Dark brown close to black, with strong smoky aroma and smoke edge to the flavor. Creamy with a mildly bitter finish. migwell (369) - Massachusetts, USA - DEC 17, 2015
Sort of a mixed up brew, a lightly smoked, somewhat chocolaty and very dark lager... more or less a one-off. Guzzling a few out of a Lagunitas jar, not loving its complexity of odd flavors, but finding it quite oddly palatable nonetheless. Jack’s Abby is expanding the lager range in some pretty amazing directions. kirk36 (223) - Peabody, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 13, 2015
I like this beer. Chocolate, coffee and lager. Yep it has created its own category. Great beer, different and strong trend setter. I will purchase more. The ending is burnt but that is ok. I taste a fire. Maybe overhaul ender. If I was a firefighter and I just put out a fire and was performing an overhaul this is the after taste in my mouth. They should re-market This beer and call it over haul. With a picture of a fire fighter on it after a sweaty night putting out a fire and ensuring safety.

Light roast and some caramel. Touch of chocolate. Black pour. Only light smoke here. Good balance. Light sweet finish with touch of bitterness. Tap at brewpub.
