This beer was brewed as a collaboration between Jack’s Abby and Lawson’s Finest Liquids. Valley Malt malted all the 2-row malt in addition to the specially smoked malt with hand-sourced wood from VT. Brewed with one gallon of maple syrup per barrel of beer. An addition of lactose sugar and brown malt rounds out a beer that tastes great from breakfast till dessert. Enjoy! May 2013 release.

Looks like copper.smells like pale malts, a bit of smoke and some german malts. it’s not overhwelmingly smoky on the nose. taste is quite nice. creamy and sweet. not veyry smoky in the taste. kind of woody and sweet. I like it a lot.

Maple syrup color; minimal tan head recedes quickly. Initial smokey aroma fades to reveal maple, toffee, malted grain, butterscotch.

Palate open up with caramel malt; a kiss of sweetness jumps in and joins forces with the maple. Crisp, refreshing, and absurdly easy to drink. Flavor to spare. Glorious!

My Bottom Line:
Wooden smoke, orange blossom and maple sugar suggestions live in this dryish, easygoing Rauchbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam covers the glowing dark amber.
-The maple character is present but subtle.
-The mouthfeel is rather fluffy.
-All in all, this is a very interesting Rauchbier attained through different means than usual while style reaching very similar flavor results.

Primarily smoky with hints of maple, a tinge of apple. Clean finish. I expected the maple to be more pronounced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(500ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clear medium gold, soapy white bubbles. Nose is smoky, maple, woody, caramel, apple, sweet and pretty complex. Taste of light smoke, bit of peat/bandaid creeping in but not offensive. Neat beer.

Bottle at Bruce’s, big thanks to Leighton. It pours deep orange-amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, smokey, toffee, juicy orange, earth, vanilla and coconut. The taste is toffee, light toast, earth, vanilla, smoke, maple glazed ham and light bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Excellent balance. Very drinkable.

Bottle shared by Phiilies08Champs. Thanks, Sean! Pours clear straw colored with minimal head. Nose was oaky, with big apple, rauchy malt, maple, and cognac. Tasted hot, with oaky bourbony notes, woody, vanilla, cognac, and smoked notes. This one was very unique, and a testament to originality.

Bottle at Bruce tasting. Amber with off white head. Aroma of smoked malt and bready lager yeast. Taste is smokey, caramel, toffee, distinct lager yeast. Bit of a lingering finish.

Bottle at Bruce’s - London. Thanks mom for getting this one! Pours mostly clear, red-gold with a frothy off-white head. Nose has lots of peat, some smokey ham, hints of caramel. Light to medium sweet flavor with sturdy honey ham, light peat, modest caramel, some bread. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, more bread, peat, honey ham, subtle caramel. Very drinkable stuff. The peat isn’t overly potent. Nice.

I am not sure if you can have a more aptly named beer. Scent is maple and smoke. Flavor is smoke and maple. Nice malt base, and the mouthfeel is perfect. Just a nice beer all the way around! B+ ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
