tap at jack’s abby. cleanest of the 4 barrel blowout varients. coconut was well integrated. i liked this just fine, but a bit too sweet to drink in larger doses. this and the szechuan pepper variant were my two favorites. more focused, cleaner beers. baconator and trail mix somewhat of a hodgepodge.
Bottle with a "barrel aged sticker" over the cap with an "A" written on it, the person I got it from said something about being an "almond" version... I dunno? Huge over carbonated head that does slowly fade leaving a deep brown beer in it’s wake. The beer displays a nutty, roasty, woody, smooth smoke and light tobacco character. Very faint if any booze and a hint of wild yeast horseblanet. The taste is mostly malty but has a dry ashy and (again) smooth smoke note too. Minimal if any bitterness and that is more coffee-ish that anything. Some faint sour chocolate covered cherry note as well. The mouth feel is ashy and tannic, very fizzy. I am very surprised by this beer, not the smoke bomb I thought it could be and there is a minimal barrel influence too (outside of some of that wild yeastie action going on). Really just a nice schwarzbier all told.

Well they accomplished the goal of making this taste exactly like almond joys. Its really pretty delicious and still has that ultra clean lager finish. I dont know if I could drink more then a glass but its tasty stuff. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - FEB 2, 2013
