3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a 500 ml bottle. My his what a wonderful aroma. Citrusy, floral, grassy, the nose is all hops. The flavor is filled with hoppy goodness, a little vegetal, some soft malt character. A very easy drinking, hoppy lager.
Hazy golden coloured body with a large, soapy white head, about three centimetres tall. Aroma of crisp grain, a touch of the hops, and more of the lager yeast than anything else - quite strong throughout. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal hoppiness around with a dash of the light malts coming through, almost none of the yeastiness nor other flavours and only a slight bit of the biscuits and grainy malt at the end. Aftertaste shows the crisp hops, but without much support - this is quite pale and very mild without much of the malt or any of the stronger lager characteristics at all noticeable after the nose. Overall, a decent IPL at best with some herbal and grassy notes that define the flavour other than the light body and some additional hops thrown in the mix. Decent to try, but not worth going out of your way to try to find or sample. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Union Square), New York on 01-December-2017 for US$1,99 sampled in my hotel room here in New York the following day, 02-December-2017. kingofthemtn (56) - - NOV 16, 2017
This is the first IP beer I've had that was markedly piney. Searching high and low I can't find a mention of exactly what hops are in it, but west coast and pine leads me to either Chinook, Summit or Simcoe. To me Simcoe is not pine, it's cat, but in a good way, sometimes. Plus it's the parent to Mosaic so it can't be all bad. I feel tropical and citrus are playing second fiddle here, my go to is still Saranac Legacy. One of my homebrews used Chinook for bittering, but Citra for finishing and dry hop so the Citra overpowered any chance of chinook flavor. Now I'll have to track down some summit hops just to see if that's this taste. ajnepple (7206) - Denver, Colorado, USA - SEP 22, 2017
On tap at Hops & Pie. Clear golden appearance with a white head and light lacing. Fresh aroma of floral hops, citrus zest, light tropical notes and mild grains. Similar flavor, adding mild hop bitterness and a light malt sweetness. Light to medium body with crisp carbonation, a slight dry feel and a balanced finish. A nice hoppy lager overall. notalush (5935) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - SEP 10, 2017
Can - pretty much exactly what I want an IPL to be - nose and approach are assertive, herbal hops, with moderate bitterness - finish is all clean, mildly sweet, floral lager - the best of both worlds! - could it be drier? A little - is it terribly complex? No. - but it's damn enjoyable. italianjohn (3282) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 4, 2017
Pale golden pour with a light orange hue ..... aroma of citrusy hops, orange, grapefruit, sweet grainy, with nice tropical notes .. taste is of bitter dry hops, orange, grapefruit, sweet malts, little grainy with light tropical notes .... definitely get the lager piece .... hoppy, dry, sweet and a bit of a bitter rind to it .... sessionable could be slightly less sweeter

Tap at multiple places. This is really nice, has that tropical and rounded fruit IPA character with sort of a crisp dry finish, I suppose from the lagering. Nice combination. JorgeLee (2259) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 23, 2017
On tap, Ginger Man NYC. Bright golden, thick white foam, nice to see a bright hoppy beer! Clean grainy body, booze hidden well, hint of some rich tea biscuit sweetness, lingering bitterness from hops. Nice strong lager, have to say I didn’t get the real aromatics and flavour of the west coast hops as much as some reviewers, but it was a pretty tasty beer. 12-ounce can pours hazy gold with creamy white head. Aroma: pine, pineapple. Flavor: all of the above, plus white pepper. Medium-bodied. Flavor: caramel, brown sugar, bubblegum, dark bread, pepper, pinecones. Rich mouthfeel. There’s a sweetness that assaults your tastes buds and lingers a bit too long for me. Too malt-forward for me, so cloying. Their Excess IPL is a more pleasant beer, but I acknowledge it’s all personal preference.
