COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Seasonal; Autumn - Released in November.
This is an intensely hoppy and strong lager that we refer to as a Double India Pale Lager. Over four pounds of hops per BBL of New Zealand hops (Kiwi Hops) were used in progressively larger hop additions throughout the brewing process. Four kettle hop additions, whole leaf hops in the hop back, and multiple dry hop additions infuse an intense floral and citrusy aroma. No kiwifruit or kiwi birds were used in the production of this beer.

16oz can. Pours hazy gold with a moderate white head. Aroma is floral hops, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, and grass. Taste is similar with delicate pineapple and grapefruit up front giving way to resiny pine, grain, and a strong malt presence. Strong bitterness. Finishes a little harsh with acrid resin. Medium-full body. Soft carbonation. Silky, thick mouthfeel.

Can from Milk and Hops, Chelsea. Hazy orange pour, frothy beige head and strong lacework. Juicy, fruity aroma. Good amount of dank hops as well. Floral notes. Grains and bready spice. Fairly bitter over a pretty strong malt presence. Fairly full bodied, crisp, with average carbonation and a little bit of boozy heat. Pretty enjoyable.

Thanks Shawn McShowber. Pours a slightly hazy muted orange color with a small white head. Lacing left on the glass. Aroma of grassy, dank floral hops and light grainy malt. Taste is of nice floral, grassy hops, and slightly sweet grainy malt. Drying finish. Not much detection of alcohol. Medium mouthful. Easy drinking. Great rendition of this style. This would be my go-to beer if available.

2015 BJCP Category: 22A Double IPA

AROMA: Potent hop presence of grassy/spicy/herbal aromatics. Some citrus as well. No distinct malt presence. Clean fermentation profile. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Amber/pale orange hue; slightly cloudy body but CO2 visible. Large white froth retains and laces very well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Dank hop flavor and bitterness hits the tongue with a thud rather than a crisp sensation. Flavors are of the New England-style IPA sub-genre (grassy/spicy/oniony). Only a minor orange flavor on the backend. No real malt sweetness aside from a slight honey taste, although palette is definitely not off-balanced. Some alcohol emerges right as it finishes. Clean fermentation. 16/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-full bodied; medium CO2. Mouthfeel is thick, soft, and smooth. Some alcohol warmth from the 8.3% ABV and a brief dry sensation (not astringent per se). 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Another very good NEIPA made even more impressive by the fact it’s a lager. Glad to see it in cans, too. 8/10

TOTAL SCORE: 40/50

Draft at Khyber Pass. Tulip. Hazy blunt gold pour with soft off-white foam and lace. Expected fuzzy Kiwi hops but feels a bit smoother and managed this time. Unobtrusive balancing malts. Notes of satsuma, mango, blood orange, wood resins, and bamboo. Feels solid.

Pours clear gold with a huge pillowy white head...great retention and lacing. Aroma is slightly boozy and has a good bit of melon...some hoppy spice...touch of fruit. Flavor is even more boozy...firm bitterness...resinous...earthy malts. Mouthfeel is medium/full with a dry, resinous finish.
