COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was brewed as a collaboration between Jack’s Abby and Lawson’s Finest Liquids. Valley Malt malted all the 2-row malt in addition to the specially smoked malt with hand-sourced wood from VT. Brewed with one gallon of maple syrup per barrel of beer. An addition of lactose sugar and brown malt rounds out a beer that tastes great from breakfast till dessert. Enjoy! May 2013 release.

Bottle at Aaron’s shared with friends. Pour is clear orange-amber with a small cream-colored head and decent lacing. Big smoky, BBQ, charcoal, slightly fruity, bready, and toasty aroma. Taste is smoky, fruity, lightly tangy, a touch of sweet pears, apple, bread, meat drippings, and honey with a crisp bite on the finish. Medium body with high carbonation. The smoke is really used nicely in this one.

Bottle at Bruce’s, big thanks to Leighton. It pours deep orange-amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, smokey, toffee, juicy orange, earth, vanilla and coconut. The taste is toffee, light toast, earth, vanilla, smoke, maple glazed ham and light bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Excellent balance. Very drinkable.

A very interesting beer that is more mellow than you would think, given the participants and ingredients. This works well as a dessert beer but also just as a beer. Good.

As soon as Jblauvs texted me that his store got this in, I knew I had some shopping to do. 500mL bottle purchased from Leary’s for $4.80. ABV not listed listed on label. To undersized cognac snifter, it pours a rusted copper amber with an off-white ringed head, 1 fingernail in length. James nailed it: aromas of smoked bacon certainly comes to mind. Also getting hints of maple sugar candies, young French oak, candied yams, mint, cinnamon, and caramel apples. Toffeeish. Tastes interestingly of hickory-smoked bacon, agave and kero syrups, carrots, graham crackers, Munich malt, and brown sugar. Kind of apple vinegary by swallow accompanied with honey, saltwater, and garden herbs. Wasn’t expecting this much sweetness. Maple barely even noticeable. Enjoyable.

Pours a dark amber with a thick tan head. Aroma has light roast, dry leaves, tree bark, and mild smoke. Flavor light sweet maple, mild rroast/fruity maltiness, and smokiness creeping in and cutting through the sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with a dry smoky/maple finish.
